Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Darius Stephens . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Darius , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I’m extremely happy as a business owner. Being a director & content creator is a passion of mine. Now there are times where I feel discouraged when business is running slow. I would love to work for KhamenLenz full time but the clientele isn’t consistent enough just yet. I’m not afraid of working a regular job. It comes with pros and cons. If I really need the consistent money then I won’t have a problem working a regular job. During the slow times I try my best to market my brand as much as possible and reach out to local or consistent clients who I worked with already. The thing about my field is you never know what gig you can land. That one gig can set you straight for the next couple months. I always make sure that I offer many different services from Weddings all the way to part events. Being versatile also brings me more clientele if needed.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a 25 years old masters director. I graduated from New York Film academy South Beach. My brand name is “Khamenlenz”. My brand doesn’t start there though , I started doing photography in 2016 when I attended Buffalo State University. From 2016-2019 I did a lot of freelance work. I worked on short films , music videos , model work , fashion brands etc. I would definitely say my company gained its spark from undergraduate at Buffalo State University. I mainly focus on story writing & music videos , but I’m extremely open to all aspects of film production. What sets me apart from Others is the fact that I edit and shoot all of my work myself. I also make music and have a big following from that. My style of shooting is very textbook and unique. When it comes to edits or putting a project together I work at such a great pace that my turn around time is also Impeccable. I’m mostly proud of my consistency & determination. Everyday I surprise myself. I made so many different connection that sets me apart from my peers. Connecting with Hey Samyr & Iman Shumpert was a great move by the company. I also have Artist that are extremely consistent with videos. Very thankful for Auqiie as well , he’s invested into KhamenLenz the brand and currently holds The President position. I want all of my fans and clients to know that I provide great professional work and I have such huge plans for the business. Stay tuned and stay supportive.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I feel like growing up in the 90s helped me a lot with keeping up to date with latest technology & latest marketing tactics. Social has been a growing success over the past decade. Once I realize my business can grow just by posting on social media, I was instantly locked in. I started using Instagram in 2014-2015. I used my iPhone to take pictures of scenery where ever I traveled to. When I first started my business I started doing photography. From 2016 until present day I stay consistent with posting material and work that I’ve created and overtime it gained traction. Over time as I kept receiving more and more followers , it motivated me to continued to share my social media with others & marked my page with the help of Instagram’s promotional services. Not only did I use Instagram I also use Facebook , Snapchat , tik tok and occasionally linked in.
For someone just starting out with social media I encourage them to just stay consistent. It may start off slow and it also may not but regardless you have to keep posting to keep the people that are tuned in , entertained.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Most of my clients are gained through Facebook & Instagram. The remainder are in person. I also provide my clients with my Instagram handle & email. This way they can always keep up to date with my services and know if I’m present in their city or not. I’m very attentive to my emails and social media messages. It’s my mission to remain responsive and helpful whenever a client wants to inquire.
