We recently connected with Darius Hester and have shared our conversation below.
Darius , appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Determination, hard work, dedication and a LOT of repetition is what it takes to be successful. Sometimes when I’m on a job site making a repair it sometimes seems impossible and I want to quit. But quiting isn’t an option at this point. I’ve dedicated myself to this company and I’ve worked to hard to quit. After a short break and reevaluation, I get the job done. Just think, if I would have quit I wouldn’t have gotten paid and I would make the company look bad. Hard work, dedication, and repetition are the keys to being successful.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started doing home remodeling in high school after my dad made me replace the carpet with vinyl floors. Shortly after I started plumbing. I started selling candy in high school selling over 60 peices a day so my wholesale career took off then. But I didn’t pick up back up until COVID happened and plumbing slowed down due to quarantine restrictions. I believe what sets me apart from a lot of of main corporations is that I’m a one stop shop. Usually plumbers cut a hole in the wall and you have to pay another company to put it back but with me I can do it all at the same time, saving you time and money. I even do electrical work if I need to. We usually don’t turn down any job and we work 24/7 including holidays. D’s Handyman Services will get the job done.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I learned was to keep spending cost low. You don’t have to go out and purchase every tool. Or buy new uniforms and all the other fancy stuff. Spend as less as possible without diminishing the quality of the product.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Plumbing was going really well until COVID came and I had to open another business in wholesale.
