Darius, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to pursue music in 2015
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well I’ve always been a laptop guy. I used to be heavy into Adobe After Effects, and Photoshop. I remember one specific day I stayed home from school, my mother was never the type to allow me to be home but for some reason she allowed it. While I was home my producing partner Jamison sent me a battle of the beats competition. I remember seeing Metro Boomin competing, and It inspired me to make beats. On that specific day I downloaded Fl studio 11 and never stopped. I’m musically inclined so after I learned the program music was kind of simple to create. My ability to create high level melodies and hard drums is what sets me apart from everybody. I truly have an ear for music, and its been like that since I was a baby. I want the world to know I have a lot of hard music on the way, and that I’m oxdarius and I’m coming.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me this answer is simple. A lot of producers do this for the money, but I truly love the reactions I get. When I make a hard beat/song and people tell me I went crazy It means everything to me. I love being able to make someone lose their self in the music moment.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I went through a tough time where I lost my girlfriend of 2 years Ramya Sha’ ra Fuller. She was my first love truly, and my biggest motivator. Losing her was a huge set back. I was in a deep depression and started developing bad habits. I couldn’t keep a job after she passed so I just started going hard on the beats. The week after she passed I went to ATL and linked up with my artist chomurda6, and my engineer Mayhem. We did the tape “EP51′ and it shined a little light on me. I think that’s when I finally started realizing I great I was at what I do.
