We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Darius Godwin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Darius thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

The King Bear LLC business and brand has continued to be a journey that started in 2012. Initially, the business name was S.P.A.X. Sports Performance (Speed Power Agility and Xplosivness) and was solely geared towards high performance fitness training for athletes from youth to professional. S.P.A.X. started as I was blessed with an opportunity to coach youth in the local area in Indianapolis, Indiana. As my athletes continued to have success I was offered a contract position to take over athletic training at a local baseball and athletic training facility owned by one of the parents of my athletes. This lead me to create my legal business entity and grow in my passion for fitness training.

Fast forward a few years, I moved back to North Carolina, and this presented me with an opportunity to expand and provide fitness services to the local community in Raleigh, build an online platform, land corporate contracts for training employees on the job. S.P.A.X transitioned into King Bear Fitness LLC.

As rebranding of King Bear Fitness LLC grew and had success I was also blessed with the accomplishment to become debt free. This was a result of a disciplined 5 year journey where I dedicated all the profits of my business into strategic plans for paying off debt. This is important because from my debt free and wealth building success journey it allowed me to grow in my desire to empower others for success through financial stewardship. Hence the birth of King Bear LLC, as the umbrella for all professional services stemming from fitness training, financial stewardship community, and a brand to empower others for success.

I knew that being blessed to have success in many areas would only fuel my passion and desire to empower others for success on various journeys in their life. Now King Bear LLC is not just a business but it is a brand that serves people with holistic strategies and motivation for improve their life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Darius “Bear” Godwin. Hence, the business name King Bear LLC. Bear is a nickname I earned as an athlete and hardworker at a young age so it always stuck with me and I felt it would be a great fit to represent my brand and business. The King Bear brand motto is a RELENTLESS GRIND and that is the desire I seek to empower others to live life’s success through a relentless grind everyday.

King Bear LLC provides fitness training services via an online platform, financial stewardship coaching in what I call the Money Beast Community, and mindset motivation apparel.

My progression with King Bear LLC started as a desire to provide quality personalized fitness training to sports athletes and lifestyle fitness clients. As a certified fitness trainer, fitness nutritionist, strength and conditioning specialist, and fitness business building, I have been blessed to provide high quality personalized training to assist my clients to reach their goals. Whether it be you are working to improve your skills as a top level performing athlete or you are just looking to achieve some lifestyle goals and maintain overall health, I provide you with the effective, consistent, and focused accountability to reach your goals.

The Money Beast Coaching Community is another branch of King Bear, where I assist young and middle aged adults with financial stewardship strategies to eliminate debt and build wealth. I provide 1-on-1 coaching sessions where we develop a budget for your success and work through strategic steps to accomplish your money goals. I also teach passive income strategies and courses as I was able to launch a successful vending business that has yielded me over 200% return in less than 9 months.

The King Bear Apparel line is another tangible part of the King Bear brand and motto that gives others an opportunity to represent a RELENTLESS GRIND lifestyle with pride and in style. I offer men and women’s apparel with mindset motivational quotes and the King Bear logo.

I am most proud of the blessing and opportunity I have to assist so many to be successful in various areas of their lives. I have assisted several entrepreneurs in successfully starting up additional streams of income through passive strategies, I have assisted money beast clients to eliminate debt and take back power in their financial journey to build wealth, and in fitness I have been able to assist youth athletes to secure division I college scholarships to attend and play their desired sport at the collegiate level.

King Bear is less about me and more about the people I am able to serve. I take pride in sharing my strategies for success with others as I have walked the journey for them.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I believe that having integrity, transparency, and treating people with high level of respect has continued to be a staple for growth in any of my business endeavors. Word of mouth is powerful and that can be negative or positive, the decision starts with how we perform and how we treat others. My integrity comes from people seeing me walk the journey before I look to empower others. In a nutshell I have taken the medicine before I give it. Also, keeping your word and having a commitment to excellence in service never goes unnoticed.
