We recently connected with Darius Chambers and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Darius thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s go back in time a bit – can you share a story of a time when you learned an important lesson during your education?
Consistency and Hard Work pays. I joke when I tell people that I don’t have the great voice or face for the job. But what I do have is personality and a drive to out work anyone. There people I worked with that people love their voice but sometimes that’s all the have so they become dependent on it and become one dimensional and they say with looks. But I don’t sleep and I put my all in becoming the best at what I do. You don’t have to be the best to do your best, you just have to do it consistently and out work everyone in the room. Time will show you that you can outlast talent cause hardwork always win out. Be patient and do worry about what you can’t control.
Darius, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the host and creator of What TheShit Podcast. A weekly live podcast on Two Facebook pages, YouTube Channel, Twitch and Twitter with audio streaming everywhere from Opulence Radio, iHeart to Amazon Music and everywhere else.
I really got started because i was looking for an outlet after my dad passed away in April 2020. We were at the beginning of the lockdown and iwas a co host on another show but felt like I wanted to start my own. It was met with some criticism and opinions but I knew I could do it. It’s started out as just a mancave to talk about things guys wanted to say but couldn’t. It was unfiltered and real. But if evolved into a talk show with interesting conversations with real and dope guests and we have mock commercials and do gameshows and more. Very entertaining.
I’m most proud that on 9/13 we were ranked #2 in music interviews, #2 in independent music interviews , and #7 in entertainment news on GoodPods out of 100 so it’s a testament to all the sleepless night for me make sure I put out consistent and quality content each week.
I’m also doing an event year called 4C The Conference for Content Creators of Color. Is a networking event here in Ohio for content creators of all kinds to come out network and hear a discussion panel and meet some dope people. I have to thank Amron Burnett & Opulence Radio, Candie Bee Parties and BizBoost for their help with this event and BeYoutiful Weirdo the program we are sponsoring with proceeds from the event.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I know being myself was paramount in being recognized. I’m real and goofy and not putting in a front for people to like me. I’m me 24 hours a day good and bad and I don’t hide it. And people appreciate my work ethic and confidence. I’m not out to make me look good I’m having fun and supporting other and giving opportunities also. Too many times people pretend to care about others to make them look good.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
That’s a great question when I first started the show I really didn’t interact much on social media especially Instagram. But I knew I had to build an audience. So I started with making post then interacting with people and do lives on there. Then went to LinkedIn and did the same. Still working on build on Twitter. But it can be daunting to keel up with all the social networks plus work a day job and be making content. So staying consistent and posting at the right time can really be beneficial but more over making sure what you post is relevant also is important.
