Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Darius Burton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Darius , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

The most meaningful project that I believe I have worked on was the Book “Modesty is Beauty” Even though I have produced and directed 4 feature films publishing this book through the company in a way has shown me how I have been changed and desire to put out content that will help others change as well. The reason I say this is because before being a filmmaker I started out with photography and whatever was eye-catching or shocking or even provocative is what I would strive for even if it was immoral. But since God changed my Life I strive to only give my greatest works to what is meaningful in His eyes, so the completion of this Photo book brings me to 180 degrees and I look and see a polar opposite from when I first started, street glam implied the less clothes on the model the more views but now I believe the Modesty is Beauty photo book is not only meaningful but can influence a generation to help with what is truly needed and that is regeneration.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Darius Burton and I am the creative director and CEO of Good Fish Cinema a Film production company, Honestly how I ended up in this industry was just from me picking up a camera and taking pictures of my family and kids for fun it wasn’t a passion of mine at all because my passion was making music but I figured I would start taking pictures for people on the side for some extra money towards bills etc. but in the process of shooting here and there as what some people would call a “side hustle” and that’s what it was to me a fun side hustle but come to find out people were calling me a talented photographer so that’s how the craft started to where I was less focused on the business aspect and way more focused on how the art of the image came out, I was a horrible business man and I believe I’m still not that good of one. Because I care more about the image of the product than making money and in today’s case my product is Motion Pictures even though I believe God gave me the talent photography helped me to become a Cinematographer and Director and God gave me a new desire in my heart to Film for His purposes, I believe the purpose in itself is what sets the company apart from the norm. but furthermore an artist will never be duplicated but only imitated. The style of cinematography and direction of our films I’ve been told are real and relatable for a Godly production company after all that is one of the main purposes of narration for a film is that it is believable and I think that’s why my favorite project was Decent Reflection, the cover doesn’t even look like a Faith based film but think about it what is Faith? Faith stems from you having to hope for something hope to get you out of maybe a dark place yes evil is real people are real but so is the love of God.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

I believe after my first marriage and divorce is when my business and mindset pivoted the most I actually stopped doing photography from my first photography business for a while, a divided home was something I never wanted for my family but that is the consequence when you become so business minded that you start to compromise things that matter the most like family, but most of all that was neglected was a desire to know God after that my mindset was changed I never again would make my business an idol , that is why I believe this business or what the world calls “business” Good Fish Cinema is taking off the way it is because I refuse to idolize it because just as fast as I received it is just as fast as it can be taken away.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

To me the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is 1st seeing the finished product and second seeing how people react to the finished product
