Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Darien Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, Darien thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?

I learned how to create music from a very young age. I started by taking piano lessons and my brothers and We all learned how to play an instrument. We also all loved to sing. I found myself listening and learning from my favorite artists. Learning their songs, then I started writing my own songs.

I could’ve applied myself a bit more to learn more of the industry side of things earlier but just being able to have that creativity in my young age made me fall in love with writing and even mature as I get older now to write meaningful songs.

Understanding chord progression, cadence, rhythm, rhyme schemes and know how to work the melodies and harmonies together.

Life, as you get older, you gain more responsibility. I wish I could have had more time to really engulf myself into music as a kid and well into my early twenties.

Darien , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Darien The Great. I am a Recording Artist, Musician & Songwriter. I also own a talent agency and music entertainment company called New Classic Records.

I got into the music industry at a young age learning how to play piano. That’s where I first discovered my passion for music. I studied and learned to sing and became a songwriter and studied the performing arts throughout school.

As I got older, I realized that I needed to learn the business side of the industry if I wanted to make a name for myself so I studied Moguls and researched any bit of information I could regarding marketing and promoting my music. I continued to perform at venues.

I started hosting events and DJing which started the music entertainment side of my business.

I’m most proud of having my music played on a global scale having streamed almost 200,000 streams throughout my entire catalog. I’m continuing to learn and grow and I feel that I’ve barely scratched the surface to my potential.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect is when you are able to see the impact that you’ve made on people’s lives. I’ve seen moments where people knew my lyrics word for word. Dancing and singing along.

I’ve met people who absolutely loved meeting me in person which is very humbling because I know that I’m not that big of an artist yet and I come from a small town so it’s different to be recognized by people you don’t know. But to them I was their favorite artist.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My goals have changed throughout the years but my mission has remained the same. I want my music to outlive me. The beauty of recording music is being able to capture a moment in your life and feel that same emotion each time you play that song. I listen to my favorite artists and even after they’ve been gone I still feel their energy and emotion that they put into their music.

I want to continue to release music to where people can’t pick a song out of my catalog to be their favorite.

Michael Jackson is my favorite artist and my biggest inspiration. I can’t find one of his songs that I don’t like and I can’t just pick one song to be my favorite. He knew how to make hits and that’s what I aspire to do.
