We recently connected with Darica Tisdale and have shared our conversation below.
Darica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
I started in financing at 22 with being a personal banker and worked my way up to financial advising and loan processing. After a few years in that field I had the luxury of being promoted in mortgage lending and partnering with 5 Wells Fargo branches in Virginia.
Darica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Darica Tisdale and I have been a serial entrepreneur since I was 19. I started my first successful business the sixfigure slay which led me to collab with salons and attend the bronner brother show. I eventually was able to become the marketing director of that salon but after years in the industry I decided to branch out into the finance world. I began working for USAA as a banker then transferred to Wells Fargo and became a banker specialist. During that time I began offering financial courses to my followers. After a few years I decided to depart with Wells Fargo and become a personal loan officer for a financing company but then saw an opening to become a Mortgage Lender with Wells Fargo in 2022. I have already went from partnering with 3 branches to having 5 in the state of Virginia and being able to connect with amazing African-American Va realtors. Now that I have fell in love with the housing world I am beginning personal interior designing for staging properties for listings and homes. Things have went great for me so far especially with me utilizing my social media to promote myself gaining myself 13k + followers. I cant wait to see what is in store for in 2023.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Being consistent with your content! That is the best advice I can give. Even when you think your content is not getting noticed keep going because your moment will come and someone is always watching.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think learning something from each company and taking it to the next company allowed me to prosper in my journey of growing in the finance world. Also being confident in your field and being willing to learn can take you very far.
