We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Darian Finney a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Darian, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I always knew! I couldn’t wrap my head around working or creating a lifestyle that didn’t consume me passionately. I’ve been a chef for 13 years now and have been creating in music spaces for the last 7 years.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Darian Finney, Private Chef & musical artist. I represent a compilation of artist called the DropOut Club & cook underneath Magnolia Catering . where we do all sorts of arts and extend our services for catering. I got into food hoping to create the same feeling I get from hip Hop, my latest album “Dirty South Angel” helped me kick off a pop~up here in Atlanta Georgia we made our first mark at Atlantas Our Bar a place where magic happens. Lately I’m working with Artist to create food profiles to represent their music as well as making sure they eat healthy and establish a stronger relationship with their audiences. All while promoting and networking for my music. I live my life hoping to make ppl dance through flavor profiles or relatable lyrics

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Seeing people connect with what you’ve created. Everyone is in main character mode until they share the things that we all relate to or deal with daily.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Having my son really made me continue my Food journey , I had been making music and working wok at a Thai restaurant with a good friend of mine. Wanting to take things seriously and blossom for a change of space for my kid. So I’d stay ready to pivot I’m the creator of two different types of art and if I had to part with either I’d lose a piece of myself
