We were lucky to catch up with Daria Stakely recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Daria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Please tell us about starting your own firm and if you’d do anything different knowing what you know now.
I always knew I wanted to have my own brokerage and do my own thing it was just a matter of when. To make that happen, I had to transition from real estate agent to real estate broker. It took me seven tries to pass the state broker exam, but I never gave up. God’s timing is perfect!
Even after I passed, I stayed at my previous brokerage for a while, really contemplating my next move. I didn’t leave right away—maybe it was fear, maybe overthinking, maybe both. But seven months later, after securing my corporate license, I finally took the leap and launched Pure Luxury Realty.
I’m so glad I didn’t let the naysayers stop me. Almost 10 months later, I’m doing extremely well. I bet on myself, and I’m proud I didn’t let anyone’s negativity get in my way. It hasn’t been easy starting out meant learning how to be a broker, not just an agent but it’s been so worth it. I have no regrets.
Daria , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into real estate because I was searching for a career that offered both flexibility and financial stability. After dropping out of college as a young mom, I worked a few different jobs at the airport, temping at title companies, and in accounting—just trying to figure things out. I had also worked with my Godmother, who was a partner at a Real estate management company they leased out office space. So real estate was always in the background. By the time I passed my first real estate exam in 2007, my son was four years old. I knew I needed something that could support us and allow me to be present as a mother and real estate gave me that opportunity.
What started as a necessity quickly turned into a passion. I fell in love with helping people achieve the dream of homeownership. I truly have a servant’s heart and a drive to operate at a high level in everything I do. That combination led to the birth of a top-producing agent.
Over the years, I’ve built my business on passion, experience, and a commitment to delivering results with integrity. It’s more than just real estate for me it’s about impact, service, and excellence.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Whew, there are so many stories of resilience being a mother and a wife while still showing up for your clients is a different kind of strength. Juggling it all can be taxing on your body and your mental, but somehow, we keep pushing through. It’s not always easy, but that balance of family and business is part of what makes this journey so powerful.
One experience that stands out to me happened during the pandemic. I wrote 24 offers for one of my first-time buyers. The market was brutally competitive, and each rejection was tough but we refused to give up. We stayed focused, stayed patient, and eventually, we won in a multiple-offer situation. It was a hard-fought victory, and handing over those keys was a moment I’ll never forget. It’s one of my favorite stories because it reminds me that perseverance and faith truly pay off even in the most challenging seasons.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What’s helped me build a solid reputation in my market is simple: integrity, consistency, and results. I show up, I stay available, and I make sure my clients feel supported every step of the way. Their experience is the most important part of any transaction. I want them to not only get the results they expect but to know they can count on me no matter what. Whether things go smoothly or challenges come up, we’re in it together from start to finish.
