Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daphne Dunning. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Daphne thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
I often share this story because it just shows the power of social media and how networking pays off. I met one of my clients in a Facebook group many years ago. She was seeking advice on translating results she had from her SEO company at the time. I volunteered to break it down for her for free and we ended up seeing she was being taken advantage of. She ended that relationship with that company and I thought that would be the last I’d hear from her. Typically when I help people I don’t try to sell my services immediately so I honestly didn’t think anything of the conversation. Roughly two years later she reached out to me. Since the last time we spoke, she worked with three other marketing companies. I told her I do not guarantee results even though most people I work with have great results. I wanted her to be comfortable so I told her to commit to only three months. After three months we didn’t get the results I’d hoped for, but she said she could see where things were going and she wanted to continue. Sure thing in months four and five she exceeded monthly revenue records. She saw a 950% increase in her business. Not only did this client see revenue increase, but she was able to feel confident about who she was working with. She is still a happy client and I love this for us.
Daphne, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a multifaceted professional, I blend my expertise in public relations and marketing with my passion for singing and acting. My journey began over a decade ago, initially offering PR and marketing support to small businesses while pursuing my artistic endeavors in singing and acting. I hold a degree in broadcast journalism and vocal performance from the University of Mississippi, which laid the foundation for my diverse career path.
In 2015, I moved to Atlanta, a strategic decision to further my acting and singing career, while also continuing my work in marketing. This dual pursuit wasn’t just a financial strategy but also a way to support and empower small businesses in the community. My belief that access to high-quality marketing and PR resources could be a game-changer for small enterprises drove me to offer my services in Atlanta.
Over the years, my focus shifted more towards marketing, particularly in the realm of Facebook advertising. This specialization earned me the nicknames. “DigiDaph” and “the Facebook ads girl,” and my success in this area led to a partnership with Facebook. The remarkable results I achieved for clients in diverse sectors, including real estate, law, and fitness, were so impactful that Facebook even featured me in media interviews about effective advertising strategies. I’ve had the honor of being a Facebook ads manager and social media manager since the first day it was introduced to businesses.
What truly sets me apart is the joy and fulfillment I derive from helping clients transform their ideas into thriving businesses, products, and events. This passion led me to launch Digidaph Academy, an online platform where I share my expertise in digital advertising, funnels, web design, and event planning, among other subjects. The academy is the culmination of years of educating clients and is a testament to my commitment to sharing knowledge and empowering others.
My proudest achievements include guiding clients to become influencers, facilitating dramatic business growth, and assisting in securing major publications and television deals. The ethos of my work is deeply rooted in mutual success and shared values. I collaborate with clients who are as dedicated and hardworking as I am, ensuring that their triumphs are also mine.
As for potential clients, I want them to understand that working with me is not just a transactional experience. I am not your typical agency; I am a real person who becomes an integral part of your business family. I am known for my transparency, extra effort, and a genuine commitment to my clients’ success. This personal touch, combined with my diverse skill set and experience, is what makes my services uniquely effective and rewarding.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
To effectively manage a team and maintain high morale, I advocate for a comprehensive understanding of each team member’s communication and work style. One of the tools I frequently use for this is DISC assessments. These assessments are instrumental in revealing the diverse ways individuals contribute and interact within a team. However, understanding a team goes beyond just work styles. I place great importance on building personal connections by learning about my team members’ values, dreams, and aspirations. This deeper engagement fosters a sense of belonging and alignment with the team’s goals.
In addition, a fundamental principle I adhere to is the golden rule we all learned as children: treat others as you would like to be treated. This approach has been pivotal in creating a tight-knit community within my team, where respect and understanding are mutual. Remarkably, this environment has even led some individuals to offer their services voluntarily, a testament to the positive atmosphere we’ve cultivated.
My management style is also shaped by my past experiences with less-than-ideal leadership. I remember the aspects of those experiences that were unappreciative and ensure that I never replicate such actions with my team. Instead, I strive to be the leader I wish I had in the past, one who uplifts and values each team member. In essence, managing a team successfully is about combining a deep understanding of individual styles and aspirations with a commitment to respectful and empathetic leadership.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
REFERRALS, though I stress to clients to not rely heavily on referrals most of my business over the years has been from referrals. I’ve often been called a secret Swiss army knife because I tried to remain behind the scenes.
