We recently connected with Danyelle Wanton and have shared our conversation below.
Danyelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the toughest parts of scaling a business is maintaining quality as you grow. How have you managed to maintain quality? Any stories or advice?
Quality control is non-negotiable in my business.
Before I ever put needle to fabric, I thoroughly inspect every blank garment to ensure it meets the standards my work deserves. If the quality isn’t there, I don’t hesitate to go back to the supplier and request better blanks. I’ve learned firsthand that even a well-known brand can fall short—once, a customer flagged the garment quality, not my embroidery. That experience taught me to offer alternative options, educate customers on garment care, and sometimes absorb a loss to protect the integrity of my brand.
You can’t please everyone—but if you run your business with the same expectations you’d have as a customer, the issues become fewer and far between. When I make a mistake, even a minor one, I own it. If it can’t be fixed, the item is scrapped and redone. It’s a hit to the bottom line, but my reputation is worth far more than cutting corners.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a self-taught embroidery professional, fueled by curiosity, creativity, and a whole lot of YouTube tutorials.
I’ve always loved working with my hands and figuring things out for myself—not just doing the job, but doing it with the precision and polish of a pro. That mindset has led me to lay tile in my own kitchen, install not one but three slat walls in my home, and ultimately launch my own embroidery business.
Embroidery became the perfect outlet for my passion for craftsmanship and design. I love being the bridge between a customer’s vision and the final product—whether it’s a clothing brand looking to make a statement or an individual with a bold idea. The collaboration, the creativity, the relationships we build along the way—that’s what keeps me inspired.
When someone reaches out for embroidery services, I respond quickly. I know how it feels to want something done yesterday—especially when it’s tied to your brand or a big idea. My goal is to be that reliable partner who gets it done fast and gets it done right.
I treat every project like it’s my own. Clean, tight, professional stitches are non-negotiable. Embroidery is an investment—it takes time, skill, and care. I make sure every client gets the quality they deserve, backed by customer service rooted in a simple principle: Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Simply put…I LOVE what I do!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes—there are three core reasons that fuel everything I do.
First, I’m driven by the joy of creating. There’s something magical about envisioning a design, bringing it to life through embroidery, and then seeing others wear and love what I’ve made. I wear my own creations proudly, and watching others connect with them is a feeling that’s hard to describe—it’s deeply fulfilling.
Second, I value freedom. I’ve chosen not to punch a clock for anyone but my family because I want to own my time. That flexibility allows me to prioritize what matters most: my spirituality, my loved ones, and my creativity. These are the pillars of who I am.
And third, I’m passionate about helping others bring their ideas to life. Whether it’s a custom piece or a full brand vision, I thrive on turning concepts into creations that feel personal, powerful, and beautifully made.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Absolutely—I did!
I’ve always loved sewing and making my own clothes, so embroidery felt like the natural next step in my creative evolution. I’m constantly thinking of ways to elevate garments, and embroidery became the perfect outlet to bring those ideas to life.
I bought my first machine off Facebook Marketplace—it arrived a little beat up, but I made it work. Even with that single-needle, slightly mangled machine, I was able to create some beautiful pieces. Eventually, my daughter suggested I open an embroidery shop on Etsy. So I did—starting small, but dreaming big.
Not long after, I invested in a multi-needle machine from Alibaba. That machine turned out to be a powerhouse, allowing me to take on larger orders and scale my production. I’ll never forget the moment I got my first Etsy sale—the ding on my watch, the blue icon, and that iconic “Cha-Ching!” It was surreal. Out of all the shops on Etsy, someone chose mine. That validation meant everything.
Then came my first bulk order from Fusion Dance—those shirts were a blast to make! That experience pushed me to upgrade again, this time to a larger machine that could handle even more volume with speed and precision.
Once I had it up and running, I created my first official design for my business. Seeing my brand name stitched into fabric for the first time was unforgettable. That moment sealed it—I knew this was more than a hobby. It was the beginning of something lasting.
