We recently connected with Danyella Terrell and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Danyella, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
The legacy I hope to build is one of making a lasting and positive impact on people’s lives. I aspire to be remembered as a catalyst for change, especially among the younger generation, encouraging them to become leaders in our local community and beyond. When people reflect on my life after I’m gone, I hope they will recall me as someone who was dedicated to empowering others, a person who left a mark in the community at both local and state levels, and someone who helped individuals confront and overcome their mental health challenges while also empowering women through affordable fashion.
I aim to be remembered for not only my charitable contributions, both in terms of financial support and the time I invested in youth recreational and academic programs, but also for the genuine care and concern I showed for those I sought to assist. My ultimate goal is to leave behind a legacy of empowerment, honesty, and a strong work ethic. I hope that my children and others will carry forward these values, perpetuating the cycle of positive change and leaving an indelible mark on the world.
When I’m gone I want people to say I was a force to be reckoned with when it came to networking, connecting and establishing positive relationships! I hope to be remembered for my hard work and dedication in my community for all people, young and old.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Danyella Terrell holds the distinction of being a double graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi School of Social Work. I’ve had the opportunity to learn about people and their diverse needs as well as how their experiences influence those needs.
I am the proud owner of several enterprises, including Berry Boujee’ Boutique Inc, The Boujee’ Boss Pop-Up Market, DBT Properties, and Beyond The Brokenness Mental Wellness Solutions. My business objectives are aimed at offering accessible resources that promote mental well-being, providing education in financial literacy, empowering self-confidence, and fostering personal and professional growth and development.
Every Business noted above was created by God. I have always thrived on helping others by providing resources or services. Through my businesses I am able to link people to resources in more ways than one. I have had the opportunity of not only providing affordable and quality rental housing options, but also helping ladies resolve fashion crises as well.
When people think “Boujee”, that think high class million dollars. Well Boujee means “luxurious in lifestyle yet humble in character”. I try to treat everyone I see with the highest respect. I want them to feel like queens no matter their socioeconomic status. I want them to be able to afford to look good so that they will feel good in hopes that they will begin to engage more confidently and positively in their social interactions with others.
I am most proud of creating a space where all people can feel comfortable coming because they know they will receive great service and encouragement. Children and youth come in to shop/talk with me and their parents trust me with them. My mother drives 90 mins each week to come and work with me. I have customers that drive 90 mins to 2 hrs to come and shop with me regularly.
I want future clients/followers/fans to know that we will treat you like family when you shop with us.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
The day I accepted the call to start a business, my husband and I decided how much of our personal funds we would spend to make it happen. I was working 2 jobs and he was working overtime so we could start this business.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
People think you have to be something different on social media…I believe you should just be yourself. When I started my boutique, I was doing live videos on facebook from my small office space in my home. I had no modeling experiences I just did whatever came natural and that was have fun.
I was going live 2 times a day. I would call my friends and go to their homes with a few items and go live there. I was going live in my backyard.
I was trying everything to get 1000 views on my lives.
I would tag my friends and tell them to invite their friends and go live.
I would do giveaways raffles for cash money.
I didn’t have a lot of space and I would go live selling items for super cheap, people would tag a bunch of friends then.
Needless to say, I never reached 1000 people on a live, but I have learned that my consistency is what has built my social media audience.
So I tell anyone who is trying to build a presence….BE Consistent.
