Dany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Just like many others, I was affected by the pandemic and lost my job at Disney. It was heartbreaking. That’s when I started baking again which has always been a hobby I loved and started making cakesicles.

Encouraged by family and friends, I began selling cakesicles. Little did I know, I had a business in my hands. With the support of my husband, Enmanuel, I made the exciting decision to turn my passion into a business and continue to create magic in a different way; baking and creating delicious sweets for all your special occasions.

That’s how D’s Cakesicles was born.

Dany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I have a major in Restaurant management and had been working many years in Restaurants at Disney. I was not new to the Food and Beverage industry so starting my own business was not as difficult since I was very familiar with food safety and the aspects of managing the business.

I wanted to provide something unique and different for my clients to enjoy and celebrate their special occasions. Although cakesicles are becoming more popular now, when I started, many people where intrigued and did not know what they were. Its still a treat you don’t easily find at stores and bakeries.

They are a great alternative to cakes and cupcakes, perfect personal size and mess free!!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Consistency!

During the time I’ve had my business I have been working on developing my decorating skills to create the different designs and requests I receive from clients. But something I have focused on since the beginning and ensure its always great, is FLAVOR!
Having a delicious consistent product is key to succeed,
For me, it was important to create something that was not only pleasant to the eye but also enjoyable.
I have now many repeat clients that order time after time not because they’re just pretty, because they also love the flavors of D’s Cakesicles .

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

Loosing my job was absolutely heartbreaking, at the time I felt like my world was ending. It was a difficult time as a family as well, I have 2 daughters that were 3 and 5 years old when I started, finding care for them while trying to find a new job in the hospitality industry that was hit pretty badly was hard! I started to think at ways of turning a bad situation into something wonderful that would also allow me to be there and care for my girls.

I did not have anything to loose so I took the risk and started D’s Cakesicles.
I’m so glad I did and haven’t looked back since.
