We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Danting Li a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Danting, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
I acquired my first client through a post on Little Red Book, where I shared my interest in helping small businesses build distinctive brand identities that stand out in a competitive market—while remaining cost-effective. Shortly after publishing the post, a watch dealer contacted me about developing an e-commerce website for their new dealership brand. I arranged an in-person visit to their local store to better understand their goals, needs, and constraints. Following our discussion, I worked late into the night to create prototypes that illustrated key user flows and presented a competitive proposal for a comprehensive branding package. This included website design and development, logo design, 3D product modeling, and copywriting. Impressed by the tailored approach and my efficiency, the client approved the proposal and signed the contract. This project became both my first official client engagement and a milestone in my design career.

I offer a wide range of creative services, including graphic design, website design, rebranding strategy, motion graphics, video editing, typography, copywriting, illustration, front-end development, and Google Ads. What sets me apart is my ability to think from the client’s perspective. Rather than focusing solely on the volume of projects, financial gain, or recognition, I prioritize understanding what the client truly needs. I strive to connect with their vision, empathize with their goals, and deliver design solutions that genuinely resonate. This client-centered approach helps me earn their trust and deliver impactful results. What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I’m constantly driven by the pursuit of the most efficient, streamlined, and cost-effective ways to achieve design goals that align with my clients’ needs. This mindset forms the foundation of my creative journey. Seeing how my work boosts website traffic, increases brand sales, and captures market attention gives me a deep sense of pride. It’s this impact—and the ability to create meaningful results—that truly fuels my passion for design.


We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the most defining moments in my journey was during an e-commerce website project for a watch dealer, where I was tasked with not only the website and brand design but also project management. The client set a very tight deadline, and I was responsible for leading the developer team to ensure high-quality delivery on schedule.
However, the initial developer significantly underperformed—progress was slow, and delays were frequent, often accompanied by excuses. As the project faced severe delays and compromised quality, I took the initiative to conduct extensive usability testing, identify the technical gaps, and begin interviewing alternative developers. Eventually, I onboarded a more reliable developer and brought the project back on track to meet the deadline.
This experience taught me a valuable lesson in resilience: when things begin to veer off course, it’s essential to act quickly and decisively. Don’t let sunk costs hold you back—focus on solutions that move the project forward and protect its integrity.
