We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dante Josephs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dante below.
Dante, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The story of how I came up with the name of The Obelisk Agency is an interesting one. The best way to describe it, is that it came to me almost like a vision from the future.
I was on my drive back to Savannah from my last day at my job as a marketing designer. I was on the verge of leaving the industry of marketing and design and most likely go back to the restaurant or retail industry, as I worked in previously. Then a voice in my head told me “it is time to start Obelisk”, which didn’t make any sense at the time, because I had never thought to call a company “Obelisk” or thought much into the physical structure of an obelisk before. As soon as I even questioned what “Obelisk” was, I could see what the logo looked like in my head. When I got home that night, I started sketching what I was and it became the Obelisk wordmark of today.
I’m not sure if I believe it was a calling of a higher power or a sign from the future, but I do love the look and energy of the logo and brand as it is today.

Dante, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Dante Josephs, the co-owner and founder of The Obelisk Agency. We are a marketing and design agency in Savannah, GA. My business partner / inspiration to even consider the idea of starting a business, William LaFLower and I started Obelisk in the summer of 2024.
I personally have been in the marketing design industry for 11 years from internships in NYC, to a freelancer in NY to GA, for a couple of companies in SC and now owning Obelisk. I started this design field in high school with 3D animation, then in college at Long Island University Brooklyn for graphic design. Ultimately finishing my degree with Full Sail University.
The Obelisk Agency works in print and digital marketing, from business cards and banners, to social media and digital marketing and everything in-between. What sets us apart is that we make our target audience isn’t the big name clients, but companies in their early days of operation. like an physical structure of an obelisk, we believe in being there from the ground level and bringing that hope and professional visual to their brand from day one.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is the difference we make for our clients with creative design and marketing solutions for their business. For most of our clients, they have an idea but no real idea of how to make it a reality. When we present our strategy and they not only the extent we care about their company and brand, but how far we go to make their dream a reality and have their end results, it is the most rewarding feeling I can ask for, These are early business owners that may feel like every step is a massive hurtle, but now they have a partner in it to help make it that much easier.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I found my business partner before even starting the foundation of Obelisk. William was the director of operations for the restaurant I worked in downtown Savannah. I more so knew his brother from working in the kitchens, but knew of him. It wasn’t until I reconnected with his brother, while working in my previous role in SC as a marketing designer, that I got to know him better. He was the inspiration to start my own company and leave the role I was currently in. His restaurant, Bandana Burger, was a client of my old job, but went on to be the first client for Obelisk once it started.
