We were lucky to catch up with Dante Hancock recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dante, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I was always an avid Boxing fan; but could not participate in the sport as I grew up with Epilepsy which caused Seizures.
My parents always emphasized in standing up for myself and fighting back when necessary. Boxing is centered around those which explains my passion for the sport.
Growing up with Epilepsy; fighting back and being confident were challenges for me. I always wanted to Box; but doing so with a neurological condition was out of the question. However; I watched the sport for motivation and believed that one day I will be a Boxer after getting past my disorder.
At age 17; my Epilepsy was cured through a brain operation and I have been seizure free since the age of 22..
Being Epilepsy free was something I hadn’t experienced since I was eight and it felt like a dream as I was once again normal.
But having “doubt” is human nature and as time passed of experiencing normalcy; a voice in my head began questioning if I was truly healthy.
I decided to take up Boxing at age 29 to truly see if my Epilepsy was gone.
Thankfully; I have been Epilepsy free for the past five years even after taking up such a strenuous sport.
Personal Training is about resilience and never giving up which is what I did upon becoming a Boxer.
Staying active is a challenge and I believe my comeback story will motivate anyone to face any obstacles into pursuing their goals.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a Personal Training and Boxing Fitness coach where I look to improve the Health and Wellbeing of myself and my clients.
Growing up with a disorder that prevented me from exercising keeps me motivated to help those who struggle with making that commitment towards a more active lifestyle.
I was once in a position where Exercise & Fitness triggered my disorder; so watching be active was like witnessing a dream as I envisioned myself doing the same thing one day.
Once my Epilepsy was cured through surgery; I used Fitness as a way to battle my past and paint a new future of positivity and self-confidence.
Self-confidence is one aspect that most struggle with.
I look to engage with and encourage my clients to keep a positive mindset in order to reach their goals through consistency and patience.
What sets me apart from the average trainer is my experience undergoing an almost incurable medical hardship which helped me better understand what it’s like to struggle.
With the lessons I have learned though my challenging times; encouraging others through mentorship to help keep them motivated in staying active are areas that I enjoy being involved in.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I have been happily married to my wife Melanie Hancock since 2019.
As my Business partner; she helped me become the responsible business owner I am today.
Our backstory is very interesting and almost like a movie…..
We 1st met in the Spring of 2015 as coworkers at a Kohl Department store and my instincts told me that we would be together in the future.
We occasionally talked, shared poems and stories of each other’s day through our writings.
That Summer; she told me about relocating to another state and for some reason; I was confident we would meet again.
“We will see each other again…….”
I said that with confidence and she looked at me in confusion as would any person who heard that from someone they just met only three months ago.
About six months later in January of 2016; a part of me thought she had returned.
I reached out to her and my instincts were right as she recently moved back.
From there; we started dating and the rest was unfolded like a Disney movie.
A few months after we got married; we discussed owning a gym and I started pursuing my passion in Personal Training & Boxing.
From helping me come up with the idea of owning a gym to assisting me with clients; my wife is my main business partner and helps me strive to constantly pursue my dreams.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Even though we are in times where technology is everything; live human interaction is still the most effective way to connect with clients.
When interacting with a potential client; I avoid business jargon while keeping the conversation personalized and engaging.
Each session I focus on building a relationship while looking for areas within their Fitness levels that may need improvement in order to assure that I leave that everlasting impression. My end result is to help them reach their goals as much as I can.
No client is the same and customizing my workouts to fit their needs is my way of engagement which improves the chances of clientele retention and growth.
