We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dante Frame a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dante , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew when I wanted to pursue this career because of the fact there is an ease of access. Where as in the old days you would have to play for so many nights and send demo tapes to labels just to get signed and get your music heard, now you have so many options via streaming, Youtube, social media, and many forums to share your music and your image with. The ease of access really inspired me to pursue music. The other reason I wanted to pursue music is because I discovered I had an aptitude for music and that I could sing most songs that I loved with very little problems, so why not learn guitar and go from there? That is exactly what I did. I began to write and amateurly record music and collaborate with friends who also shared this same passion and it carried on from there. Many bands I grew up with inspired me. The sound of music and the production of songs, melodies bands or artists choose along with style has always intrigued me and perplexed my interests further expanding my curiosity to play.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I love music and singing, playing, and creating. I find it to be my reason to get up everyday. A reason to warm up my voice in the morning. I found my way into the industry through friends from high school and people I met in college. Over time I met more and more people who have their foot in the industry whether it is here or outside the US. I started in a cover band in high school then joined Kylee Higgins Band as my first official venture playing bass. After that I joined some friends and we were known as Just Average. After that ended me and Dillon formed Diva (now Pineapple Willows). We provide CD’s, cassettes, stickers, shirts, and buttons. We also offer our talent anywhere we can trying to spread our music and influence to help people and know that we are a working class band. We are a band about positivity, heartbreak, human emotions and questions, social unrest, fun, and theories. Most of our songs revolve around these concepts and turn them into ideas and present day correlations.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
Sounds revolutionary in theory but a very unstable form of currency considering it is not real and still has to be backed by the US Dollar. One day it might be an alternative solution, but for now it is just annoying and seems like a farce for most everyday folks.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
My most rewarding moment as an artist was when I was doing my solo act from 2016 to 2018. After I was done with my 45 minute set a young girl came up to me and her daughter handed me a note saying how much they loved my songs and appreciated it. I still have that note because it felt like the first time someone actually liked my craft and creation.
