We recently connected with Dante Collier and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dante, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Ever since I became familiar with Hip Hop Music I was always drawn to the beats I heard and was always curious as to how to make beats. One of the producers I became really impressed with was Heatmakerz. This was around the time I was in high school. The melodic beats vocal rock samples and crazy drums were all I needed to hear to decide I had to learn. Quite coincidentally one of my friends around that time scored a flash drive with a lot of random programs on it which one happened to be fl studio. It seemed like it was fate. I absolutely had to hone my skills and eventually make a career out of it. Once all of my peers began to love my beats asking for mixes to play while riding in traffic. I knew I had a natural talent for it. Once I made my first bear sale soon after I knew I could seriously pursue this.
Dante, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Soon after I developed my talents with beat making. I gradually came to working with a good majority of rappers locally here in Buffalo, NY, of which I am native to. Started scoring beat sales frequently making connections which eventually gained me my first major placement ElCamino of Black Soprano Family Records. The song I produced was “Blind love” No more than a month or so later in 2021 I met Streets Soprano, also of Black Soprano Family Records. I was with two rapper friends of mine and tagged along to Streets studio session. When the opportunity presented itself, I was invited to play some beats for him. I always bring my laptop wherever I go in case of these opportunities. Long story short, Streets and everyone present in the studio were going crazy over the ones I played. Soon after streets offered me the opportunity to be his in-house producer on his Team Trust Nobody Music Group and the rest was history. I produced “Well Alright” “U Hear Me” “Well Alright 1.5” and our album called “Damn! Nothing Lasts Forever” in their entirety and have production on his Album “U Hear Me 2” which is currently on all streaming platforms. We have a lot in the works currently as far as projects and have developed a winning formula and sound together. I am most proud of the fact that I’ve come along way in life thru battles and tribulations and have come to the stage in my life where dreams can turn into reality.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The main trial in my life I have been dealing with Mental Health. I am a huge advocate. I hope to inspire those thru my success to see that a healthy and accomplished lifestyle is possible. That is one aspect to myself that I am extremely open about. The resilience it took to get to where I am now and doing what I love is of great measure.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Simply the love for the music and satisfaction I get when people love my beats. Also being able to freely create and do what I love everyday.
