Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dante Alba. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dante, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Ever since I was a little kid wanted to be inside of the screen and I side of the music player. Nevertheless, I would say that when I was 18 years young is when I decided to go to Los Angeles, California to pursue my artistic career professionally.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When I first move to Los Angeles, CA in 2011 I booked a job through Craigslists as an extra for a Univision’s Telenovela (Soap Opera) for which I didn’t get paid since I got in line on the wrong one for being an inexperienced background actor. Later on in 2013 I signed up for LA Casting and got some auditions for commercials like Pepsi / Dr Pepper and Jack in the box. I’m most proud of the projects I’ve been fortunate to be part of since 2015. I’m currently working on some projects that are a big deal to me. I will be releasing my first single “Immune to Odium” on all digital platforms within a few weeks. Stay tuned!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My resilience story is illustrated in my upcoming single but I can share more details about it. I’ve been experiencing hatred towards my persona years prior to 2020 for speaking out my mind against racism as a Mexican and American living in the USA. Opposers targeted me and now every time I’m around them they won’t stop picking on me for not being as productive as they expectations. What they don’t know is that I’ve been experiencing overall well being and mental health issues which has been preventing me to have a normal life. I’ve seen many doctors, tried out different medication and done therapy. I’m doing everything I can to keep going even with the new health issues that are showing up. I may fall but I get up again.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is inspiring and connecting with others. When someone approaches you to compliment your work or to tell you how it has influence their lives in a positive way is the most rewarding thing, it makes all the catharsis pay off.
