Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dante. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dante, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
My favorite questions to answer are the ones I’m %100 certain about. I can say with full confidence that I am happy working for myself and starting my storytelling business with my camera. In fact this year marks 10 years of my journey ! I started DANTE’S CRAFT with high hopes to make a living taking photos and videos, that was my baseline and if i could accomplish that i would feel successful. I felt entrepreneurship was the only route to consistent happiness. Being an artist my whole life led me to this decision. I had no interest in any other line of work. Im someone who must live only as themselves each second of the day. That alone prevents me from working for another company or field have no connection to. Ive worked so hard and every challenging moment was worth the outcome that followed. My dedication , sacrifice , and obsession with my business is the reason i have everything I do today. Times do get tough occasionally, but the thought of choosing another career never crosses my mind.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Yo! My name is Dante Davison, Im a 29 year old storyteller from Minnesota. Ever since I was young, Ive always had a huge imagination that was constantly working in my head. Ive always been fascinated by the endless possibilities storytelling offers. Things really got interesting when I received my first camera at 8 years old and started my journey as a photographer. I spent my entire time through school practicing techniques , finding my style , getting mentors and learning the rules of photography. So Im happy to say I’ve been preparing for my future pretty much my whole life. It truly feels like destiny to follow my dreams as an artist and businessman. I get immense joy capturing moments for people and businesses that have their own special calling. Im happy to capture the essence of every moment, from stunning portraits and unforgettable events to impactful brand imagery and commercial filmmaking. It’s important to be prepared for anything my clients ask for and approaching each task with the care that is required to have an amazing product. For the last 10 years of my business I’ve had strong work ethic as a storyteller, emphasizing my attention to detail , quick editing skills, and commitment to being the first to arrive and last to leave. Im passionate about ensuring a memorable experience for each and every client.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being a creative is rewarding in many way. One of the greatest is knowing my work can last many lifetimes, leaving a legacy for individuals and companies. Also, the memories I create working with people from all walks of life enrich both my art and personal growth. These connections and experiences are as valuable as the art itself. I must say if done right there is so many more positives than negatives when it comes to entrepreneurship. It all connects back to freedom for me, the freedom to create what and when , the freedom to work with great people , and the freedom to steer my business in whatever way aligns best with my spirit.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think early in my career when I first started my business , some people didn’t take me seriously . Some saw it as a hobby that couldn’t support my life style. I can remember it motivating me and pushing me to make my calling something real that everyone could recognize and respect. I don’t blame people who work regular jobs for not seeing the benefits of entrepreneurship. To most people , stability is more important than happiness. I want to be clear , i had a great support system that allowed me to start my business , but regardless i rather pour hours of hard work and dedication to my own life rather than another company working full time elsewhere. I think we often forget that life is so much more than the basic structure we’ve been shown and told is the right way. I always preach to take control of your life and do literally whatever makes you happy, and more times than not, you can get paid for it!
