We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danshu Zhao. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danshu below.
Danshu, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I have done a pop-up store in May of 2021 and that was the first ever offline store which has been conducted under the brand of DANSHUU. It was a very exited feeling when the first piece sold and then I knew what’s the feedback from the market. The first client was one of the customers who went to the pop-up store in Covent Garden, London.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
DANSHUU is a London based womenswear E-boutique designed and produced under the concepts of Retrospective Minimalism. It aims to serve a high potential market, which is made up by younger female professionals in petite sizes, contributing a high potential revenue to the UK online women’s clothing retail market. The studio specialises in timeless, versatile pieces with optimal proportions of petite sizes, creating high-quality materials with character. Utilizing the essence of K’o-ssu (a technique in Chinese silk tapestry) and digital jacquard weaving techniques, DANSHUU is dedicated to cultivating a sustainable ethos by delivering long-lasting products.
The business starts as a B2C e-commerce model to provide professional virtual fitting and e-merchandising on the business online store by Shopify. The main social media is focused on Instagram and YouTube development to link the official website of the brand and promote the brand through both platforms. Since the business launched the first online collection in January 2021, it has gained 250 followers on its business Instagram account with high potential growth in next few months.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I have been done lots of pop-up store in central London and also back in China. It’s the most efficient way to test the market and to meet new clients.

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I have an online store but I haven’t been done many digital marketing and online advertising. The good part is that online channels got bigger market but at the same time it needs more time and more tests to work on to get the right customers to make the purchase.
