Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danny Soriano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Danny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Coming from a Hispanic/Latino family music and art as a whole is a huge part of our culture. As a kid growing up in SoCal one of my earliest memories was being at family gatherings where music was the forefront of what set the tone for a good time. One thing that stands out to me now that I’m older (and understand what comes with being an adult) is no matter what struggles, challenges, or hardships my family was going through we still came together collectively to enjoy ourselves with what we had. Music gave us an atmosphere to express our feelings whatever they may be or even change the way we feel and uplift everyone with something as simple as a beat and voice, to me that’s one of the most beautiful things about music and why I chose the path I’m on.
Danny, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I pay a lot of credit to my family for my journey as an entrepreneur. Coming from and immigrant family there’s a huge sense of urgency when it comes to prosperity and betterment of your self and circumstances. I think the mindset almost seems to stem from the want for more for your loved ones. I’ve always taken that ideology with me and as of late I’ve dove into the digital marketing scene using skills I’ve built up over the years with little prior education to start my small company. I help create video ad campaigns to help with business scaling for my clients and I love being able to watch a companies image go from where they are to where they want to be. I’ve been able to use these same skills in my personal endeavors aswell in being able to market myself and my music independently alongside a small distributor. I hope in the long run I can help influence people of all walks of life to do the same and create a sense of hope for kids like me who aspire to do the same thing career wise or in music.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think the biggest thing non creatives or 9-5 people fail to see is the beauty in the process of making something come to life from an idea. Some people think the creative process to be simple and that projects come to fruition as quickly as their thought of, but as they say Rome wasn’t built in a day. There’s a lot of non-linear progress that happens when creating a project no matter how small or big it is and a lot of times that’s what deters people from finishing what they start. The value of creative work is definitely subjective but for me seeing a video or song come together is one of the most fulfilling feelings I’ve experienced that not everyone finds the beauty in.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I hope in the long run I can help influence people of all walks of life to do the same or create an atmosphere of hope for kids like me who aspire to do the same thing career wise or in music. To me it’s such a beautiful thing to be able to teach and even better feeling to inspire. Growing up listening to music sometimes felt like a boost of energy and confidence, but it also gave me a safe space to feel whatever emotion I had. From sad, to happy, even angry it seems like there’s a song that fits every mood.
