We were lucky to catch up with Danny Silvertone recently and have shared our conversation below.
Danny, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I’ve always had an interest in visual art and music as a whole, especially the relationship they have with each other. But it didn’t always come so natural to me, it didn’t always just click.
When I was young, I was enrolled into violin lessons by my parents. By the time I was 10, I was a first chair violinist and would perform regularly in my home town at recitals. As I got older though, I grew an almost unhealthy obsession with pop culture, and I knew I wanted to give my own take on what modern music is.
When you’re doing music, there’s a few things you really need to understand in order to garner any level of success. The first obstacle I had to overcome was time management. You’re not gonna be able to get anything done or be the MOST productive you can possibly be if you don’t set aside the time! It’s no secret that I like to go out concerts, social gatherings, conventions etc – but I had to miss out on a lot when I began writing my debut project ‘INSOMNIA’.
One of the most important skills I learned was knowing when to ask for help. A lot of artists want to do everything themselves, but that’s just not necessary or productive. Its good to collaborate with other artists and editors on your creative process. While I was writing ‘INSOMNIA’ – that was one of the biggest obstacles I faced – learning how to let others be apart of the process and take ownership of their part of the project!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been playing music for some time now, and have had a few mentors is my life time teach me how to operate independently. In 2020, I began writing music to instrumentals I found from a German producer I found online. I started releasing music under the name ‘ DANNY SILVERTONE’ in 2021, and it stuck.
My whole goal with INSOMNIA is to connect with people that feel isolated and overwhelmed by a world that has become increasingly complicated. I know for a fact in my home town, and in the world abroad (mainly by connecting with people online) that there’s a whole subculture of people that spend lots of time alone, with just their music and LED lights to keep them company. Maybe they have few very close friends that they spend all their time with. Maybe they think more than they’d like to – this is for them. If that’s you, this is for you.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The whole purpose of this project is to find like-minded individuals that can relate to subject matter I’m confronting in some of my music.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
If you’re another creative, having your own website can seriously make a difference! When I was first starting out, I didn’t have a website with a custom domain. Now I have dannysilvertone.com and its been really helpful with sharing my content with people online.
