We recently connected with Danny Pando and have shared our conversation below.
Danny, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Danny Pando, i am a tattoo artist with 15 years experience in the industry. I first got into this industry by hanging out with friends who worked in tattooing. I was really intrigued by all the equipment the artist were using, and i wanted to learn how it all worked. Once i got my hands on some of the equipment i realized that this is what i wanted to do. I spent the next couple of years studying tattooing and the craft of tattooing until i was able to call my self a tattoo artist. I am super thankful for my mentor and all my coworkers that have helped me along the way. Being a tattoo artist has allowed me to do things trough art i never thought possible. The best part of my job is getting to meet my clients and listen to their stories. Getting to turn their experiences into an expressive work of art. The best part of it is that everyday i get to be a part of someone’s journey. There has been many accomplishments along the way. In 2010 my wife and i opened a tattoo shop in Odessa, Texas, we owned and operated that shop until 2018. In 2018 we moved to north Texas and i continued my tattoo journey at Dark Age Tattoo. I have just recently started working in the Arlington area out of a private studio. Through the years I’ve been fortunate enough to have traveled around the country and compete in many tattoo competitions, I’ve won some and I’ve lost some but i have made lot of friends along the way. Over the years there have been many awards and recognition for the work I’ve done, but the most rewarding is still making the connection with every client that takes the time to come see me. I am very appreciative and fortunate to do what i do for a living.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Supporting an artist is easy. It’s all about word of mouth, tell some one about us, share our stuff on social media, buy our art. Even just giving acknowledgment is awesome. We as artist can be hard on ourselves so sometimes even the smallest bit of gratification helps.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Being a creative doesn’t stop. You can’t just shut it off. As creatives we are constantly looking for inspiration. We are constantly trying to figure out how to get better. We are constantly researching our craft. We may work a set schedule or certain number of hours, but we never stop trying to make the next creation better than the last.
