Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danny Jelaca. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Danny, thanks for joining us today. Have you ever had an amazing boss, mentor or leader leading you? Can you us a story or anecdote that helps illustrate why this person was such a great leader and the impact they had on you or their team?
The best boss I ever had was a Johanna Stella. It was my first job in miami 25 years ago. She was a great mentor and motivated me to achieve my dreams. She had business savvy and great talent and she was celebrity driven and brought Madison Avenue to South Beach. I still run my salon departmentalized and give the highest level of customer service and talent to all the clients and treat them all like celebrities!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a celebrity stykist and salon owner. What sets me apart is that I’m also an editorlal stylist. I shoot for national insurance international Fashion magazines. I do a lot of red carpet looks and fashions shows. My salon is departmentalized and I hand select the talent. I love to provide a salon with the highest level of service and posh interior concentrating on hair and skin care . I love to make people feel beautiful from the inside out. I’m very spiritual and love to listen to my clients and staff and be a cheerleader for them. I live in gratitude for all of what this life has given me and for this great city that has treated me so well
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I decided to go on my own, I had to rent a chair at a Blowdry bar all by myself. I was a one man show for one year. Learning everything from the first time about being a business owner and learning how to do construction project and recruit to open. Once I succeeded I wanted to expand so i abandoned my first beautiful salon and closed it to move to a space twice as big. Again I rented another salon and dove into an incredible challenging buildout with added services. This took unexpectedly 18 months I’m which I had two rents and needed to keep the business alive with staffing and 2 rents again and I just kept the vision of the new salon eberyday and I stayed persistent, learned that persistence wins. And life is a wave. If you know it’s a wave, then you know it goes back up.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Absolutely I would! I love doing hair, I love teaching and sharing, I love learning myself and growing, I love interpersonal communication and establishing so many wonderful relationships that this life has given me. I love beauty all around me. And I live foe making people look and feel beautiful and loved.
