We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danny Gavin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danny below.
Hi Danny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I can thank my wife and a late-night brainstorming session for this one. I really wanted to bridge the gap between businesses and their customer, and optimize those relationships. One night at the kitchen table, she helped me combine those two goals and words, optimize and bridge, into one – ‘Optidge’.
Danny, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and my parents emigrated to Houston when I was an infant. Growing up in an immigrant home, I learned the value of hard work from a young age, and really wanted to make an impact. Although I went to Rabbinical Seminaries, I did not want to become a full-time Rabbi, and so pursued my education. I was accepted to the MBA Program at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, at the University of Houston, where I concentrated in Marketing and Business Consulting.
It was through this experience I learned about the divide I mentioned between businesses and customers, and Optidge was born. We specialize in search engine optimization; digital advertising through Google, Facebook & LinkedIn; content, social & email marketing, web analytics, and executive education. We’re relentless in our pursuit of a higher level of marketing for each of our clients, through personalized digital marketing and advertising campaigns and strategies.
I’m really proud of our team at Optidge, how well they care for our clients – that really sets us apart. We’re able to combine a large array of services without losing touch of the fine details. We really pay attention to your company, walking you through the process – we want you to have an understanding of what’s going on with your marketing – the ‘why’ and ‘how’ behind the ‘what’.

Any advice for managing a team?
Focus on the team you want to build from the start – hire the people who not only want to be with you for the long run, but who YOU want to grow with. Then create a culture where they feel seen + heard – there’s an open-door policy to bring ideas to the table of how we could maybe do things better or more efficiently, openly praise a job well done, and provide guidance through rough patches. Show that you’re really there to support them through both the ups and downs any business goes through. I get really excited about the collaborative atmosphere we’ve built at Optidge.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
We really grew from referrals and word-of-mouth, so doing our job and doing it well, living up to our customers’ expectations, was key. As we took on more clients, we really started to build a reputation for the quality of our work and our client-business relationships, which still follows us to this day.
