We recently connected with Danny Brewer and have shared our conversation below.
Danny, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
At a very young age, I remember always being fascinated by different animated movies. Growing up, I would constantly be drawing movie characters from Disney’s Lion King to Dreamwork’s Road to El Dorado. As I grew, my passion for the arts grew being fueled by family and teachers. When it came time to choose a career path, art seemed the most obvious one for me. I started looking further into different avenues for it, landing me at Kennesaw State University learning 2D animation and character design.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I received my Bachelors in Fine Arts from Kennesaw State University in 2D Animation, since then, I have been employed as a graphic designer creating video design and educational content for an instructional learning company based in Atlanta. In my free time, I enjoy creating animations, character designs and illustrations for myself and my freelance clients. Currently I am working on a passion project creating an animated short using original characters following their adventures exploring a new world they crash landed on.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
One of my main goals in my career is to work for an animation powerhouse. Bringing new stories to life and helping create a powerful story that can reach and inspire the next generation is a passion of mine driving me towards my goals as an artist.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Finishing a piece that I struggled with. Some pieces just don’t come out the way you planned them to, but I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish them. The piece may never see the outside world because they don’t meet my expectations as an artist, but they teach me different lessons that I can bring into my next work.
