We recently connected with Danni Gyrl and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Danni, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I had an extremely hard time coming up with a business name. I wanted something that represented myself as well as made me feel like the company was great. I toiled with some horrible names and after awhile I gave up. My mom, Arneata’, has a company called Divine Communications and I loved how it sounds. I also liked the services she offered to creatives. Arneata’ who is also an artist, needed a manager and I had to go back to the drawing board for a business name. I decided to go with stealing her business name. I figured I was named after her (my middle name) so why not name the business after her too. (Laughing). I originally went with Divine Management but it didn’t fit me and I also realized I wanted to do more than just be a manager. I came up with D’vine Management and Entertainment. “Group” was added later when it became a LLC. We are also known as D.M.E.G., and have DMEG Radio and DMEG Records under our umbrella. We’re happy to have been officially in business for 12 years now.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve always been in the industry in some way. My mom was an amazing artist and performer for many years. As a child, I was in acting, print modeling, singing, dancing, a little of everything. As a teen, my mom was a music executive so I was exposed to all the music that came through the record label, signed and unsigned. The different sounds were so intriguing. As time went on, music began to change, and more independent artists began to emerge. With that uprising came a group of artists that weren’t developed, didn’t know the business side of the Industry, and needed things that they didn’t have access to or didn’t know they needed. By this time, I had been to vocational school, became a legal administrative assistant, and began doing business services such as evictions and various referrals to pay the bills. I slowly was able to acquire a residency at a club hosting and promoting indie artist shows. I eventually went back to college to study music and business marketing to expand my business. I relocated to Vegas in 2016, where I took on some short term celebrity assistant gigs, restaurant management gigs and other entertainment related gigs until she was able to secure a residency there at Legend’s Restaurant, owned by former Death Row artist Danny Boy. After working for Danny for awhile I branched out and went full blown entertainment. Not only did I start managing again, I started coordinating various events and giving artists different platforms to be able to grow their fanbase, get exposure and network with various people who are in the music industry as well as other creatives and small businesses. In 2020, I started artists development classes. In 2021, I started my podcast “Couch Conversations Live” where I have various guests come on the show to promote their products, projects, etc. We talk about different topics, do interviews and introduce our audience to up and coming creatives such as producers, artists of all genres, small business owners, and more. We’ve covered a variety of services that have been able to help clients on every creative spectrum. It’s been an amazing ride and I’m just getting started.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think being honest and transparent has helped build my reputation. I’m also a business minded go getter. I’ve always made it my personal policy to always be transparent with my (potential) clients when doing business. This has gotten me very far because people don’t like to feel like they are being taken advantage of or lied to. Clients like to feel exclusive, have discretion and have details. When you’re being open and honest, people tend to be more comfortable with doing business with you. Being open and honest with your clients opens up relationships that are not only priceless but timeless.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I’ve had two strategies that I found have been effective for growing my clientele. My first strategy is word of mouth. Word of the mouth of the best way to get a client because they’re offering their first hand knowledge of their experience with the company. I aim to give each client an exclusive and customized experience while working with us. By doing this, we provide the ultimate experience and our clients refer their friends and family. My second strategy is networking. Getting out to network and meeting people face to face is a great way to sale yourself. Going to local events and supporting other events is a good way to get supporters and followers because most people will return the favor when it’s your turn. Social media networking is also a good way to network with people outside of your immediate area. I’ve gained a lot of followers and associates from across the globe from networking on social media. It’s a great way to get more information to a wider audience faster. Those two things are a sure fire combination to growing clientele.
