We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danittza Zimic. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danittza below.
Alright, Danittza thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
I became a Fashion Designer after the 2007/2008 crisis and market drop. I was in real estate for 20 years before I took a leap of faith and started believing in myself. For a month after I decided that I couldn’t continue to work on real estate I was speechless and mourning the life I’ve had, my career. This forced me to look into myself and get in touch with my inner little girl with big dreams. In 2007 I did not know even where to start, so I registered in the Arts Institute and decided to listen to my inner voice. I create 200 dresses with the only money I had left and started my clothing line. I started to believe in my dreams and I was relentless when creating my designs, I started knocking on doors and quickly started to get more and more boutiques all over the world. I dress celebrities and powerful women that want to be unapologetic about life and their career
Danittza, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, to inspire. I feel this is my mission in life and my vision has always been to lift women up with my designs, to make them beautiful is my biggest satisfaction as a Fashion Designer. I am here to be of service to God by bringing happiness and joy to people through my bold prints and colorful palettes. I study color therapy too so I strategically plan my collections to uplift people’s sense of self love by enhancing their outfits with my colorful designs. You see people body types varies as they age, they may lose weight or gain weight. My clothing line is inclusive and my designs bold, I use fabrics that are not for the faint of heart. I give women the power they deserve in whatever career they are in, if a body type doesn’t have a waist I create a waistline using an empire waist to give an impression that she is small waisted… this is just an example of what my vision and vrand stand for. Ultimately, is for you all women that are beautiful and want to tell the world, here I am, I am me and I love it!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Being part of the a brand that survived the pandemic is a big part from the resilience that you as a brand have but if you believe in your dreams and the power of the impact you are making in this world through your brand you will overcome any obstacle. That is the true beauty of the passion you put in your business. The resilience gets fueled by the passion you put into your craft, in my case the love for what I do is my driving force so I had to reinvent myself and include sizes and options to satisfy all my clients. Lets face it, the pandemic had us all gaining weight so I thought why not expand into bigger sizes to accommodate all women and make them feel extraordinary. Usually the bigger sizes lack fashion sense so I wanted to give that option, we curvy women can also be fashion at any size and age.
