Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danita Shari. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Danita, thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?

In 2016 I started content creating as a lifestyle blogger to share my life through my blog danitashari.com, Along with my social media platforms. This helped me express my emotions through my work while sharing my ideas and true thoughts on the latest trends and products.

When I first began my journey I didn’t know that you could make a full time living on social media. I just graduated high school a year prior, thus I really wasn’t focusing on a career in media.

My growth as a lifestyle creator didn’t happen overnight and I’m still far from where I want to be. However, I’m way further from where I began. When I first started I didn’t have a strategy, no understanding of marketing, nor was I making any money. I was spending money! And receiving a lot of free product. Which helped get in front of brands that I really wanted to work with. Overtime I improved my crafted with quality content and landed my first real paid collaboration in 2020. All of this took time and patience to the point that I am NOW in 2022 making a full time living through my art. I love how slow things have been for me to understand my process. I wouldn’t speed up this life for nothing.

Danita, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My career focus is lifestyle content ( UGC ) and running my fragrance company fill time.

UGC is a newer term which stands for User Generated Content. I help brands and businesses tell a story through my product shots/videos with their products. This all started from my blog and sharing story telling images through it and via Instagram.

I also run a fragrance company that ties back into my lifestyle content. I believe in having a calming space for creating and fragrance can play a major roll in how you feel. Therefor, I launched SHARI. CO in 2019 to bring that calmest to my audiences in a luxury yet, affordable way.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect is having a vision for something, creating it for someone and allowing my work to resonate with them and speak loudly through it in the most simplistic way.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

My biggest lesson I had to unlearn was saying yes to everything.

I’m currently still working on this. But, I find myself adding so much to my plate that I can not handle it all. I remember when I had 3 client work to summit, a event for my fragrance company and still so many orders to fulfill. I cried because I didn’t understand how wrapped up I got myself into. This is why creating a strategy and schedule is so important. Even asking for help can be hard. You gotta do it.
