We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Danika Cisneros a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Danika, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?

Pawpa Flavor is a family-owned business that has been in operation for a little over 5 years. A father-daughter business that quickly blossomed into a well know community brand. Every aspect of Pawpa Flavor is touched by family. We strive to keep all aspects in house and use each other’s skills sets to our full advantage. Our drive and motivation as a team even makes our induvial accomplishments exciting for all. Balance is key for any successful business, family operated or not. So, we are constantly reminding ourselves to turn of the business brains and rest. That can be difficult at times, But I wouldn’t trade this this blessing for anything. Every day I get to continue my success story with my wife (Carolina), father (Alan), mother (Denise) and daughter (Nina) by my side. Our family dedicates its love and energy to bring wholesome quality flavors to any lifestyle.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Five years ago, I started selling small jars of my dad’s family famous Tri-Tip Rub, out of a little red lunch box to all my co-workers. This was just to prove to him how good of a product he had created. With continuous praise from friends, family and others repurchasing soon after buying. We all started to breathe life into what’s now known as Pawpa Flavor! A line of seasonings rubs and sauces that are produced and bottled in micro batches ensuring absolute quality and freshness. They are, all natural, low sodium, low to no sugar, gluten free, keto and vegan friendly (except Ranch). Only the highest gourmet quality ingredients are used. If it doesn’t offer all of this and an intense number of balanced FLAVORS that pop, Pawpa Flavor will not make it. Pawpa Flavor’s seasonings, rubs and sauces offer a multi-layered complexity of flavors that are undeniable to even the most demanding palates. The uses are limitless. From popcorn to 5-star dishes and everything in between. If you can think it, try it! Pawpa Flavor will always continue to push the boundaries of the food industry and strive to normalize healthy flavoring options for all households.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

We love local festivals and famers markets! Connecting with the community is huge for finding new customers. It is our number one tool for boosting our brand awareness. Getting in front of as many people as possible, gives us a leg up for new customers to look for our products at local retailers near them.

We also collaborate with other locally owned businesses and cross promote each other’s products.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

I wonder book for all business owners is ” Crucial Conversations”. It’s Great tool to help better your communication skills, especially when stakes are high.
