We recently connected with Daniielle Alexis and have shared our conversation below.
Daniielle, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
The most important thing to me is to make sure that everything I do is creative as that’s what makes me the most passionate and happy on this universe. I have found in the past that I have done things that are more in the business realm or even when I was working in mining I loved that it was a challenge but the creativity that lacked was what left my heart always yearning for more.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
my journey through life has been much like a rollercoaster in the sense that I have ups and downs and a lot of lightness and darkness. I am from Perth which is a small city in Australia. It’s actually the most isolated city in the world but that’s never hindered my huge dreams especially as a trans woman ! I have worked in the Australian desert for billion dollar mining companies for 6 years of my adult life and on the other end of the scale – I’ve also worked with the upper elite in Hollywood Los Angeles ! how this is possible, is because I always believed in myself and I always had massive dreams like Anna Nicole Smith said “if you don’t dream Big, you will never be big” And I never forgot that quote when I heard her say it. Everything that I want to achieve in this lifetime I go for it, so when I had a vision that I wanted to come out publicly as a Proud transgender woman in my country through a major media outlet and decided not live in the closet any more, I knew when I was out and Proud that I would be able to then chase after my dreams and goals and that’s exactly what I did ! Since moving to America. Four years ago I have joined the underground ballroom scene and not only joined but become in leadership for the Gorgeous house of Gucci which is a major house full of huge celebrity talent and have walked many balls around the Usa winning big grand prizes are making history as an Australian in ballroom. My personal mother in ballroom is Jack Mizrahi who co produced POSE & LEGENDARY on our screens so having a mentor like him has been priceless !! . I have been blessed to work as a Glam assistant for Erika La Pearl under the team of Cardi B so I’m literally working alongside one of the biggest female hip-hop artist in the world which is a pinch me moment every time I’m around and most recently being a part of making history being on the first all Trans cast reality series produced by Ray J, called “the Gworls club” where 13 Trans girls met in a mansion in Agoura Hills and they documented our lives for two weeks which was absolutely incredible to be a part of and see truly how all Trans is so different and the highs and lows we all go through when we put together . once again none of this would be possible if I didn’t believe in myself and every day I wake up I’m so proud of myself
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A lot of people don’t know this but I had a few surgical issues that were really scary at the time of growing up in my transition and I remember it made me feel so depressed and not in control of my life and my future. I remember when I was at my lowest point my family was who wrapped their arms around me and not only supported me mentally financially and physically but made me see the light at the end of the tunnel and it really reminded me how truly blessed I am because in so many situations when Trans people don’t have their family They literally left to fend for themselves and sometimes feel so alone so I always try to tell people that have children and have LGBTQ plus in their family. The importance and power of family is huge and cherish your children and younger people that need love and guidance.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I’m really glad this is a question because one thing that one of my inspirations Trace Lysette always speaks about is the fact that we need the industry and the public to believe in us and back us more. And to HIRE US!! We have so many amazing stories and so much creativity that is presented to massive people in the industry but unless the industry backs us and wants to start funding our stories and actually putting Trans people in the rooms, there’s nothing that we can do by ourselves. It’s tiring and draining ! This is a crazy huge steam train of an industry that is led in a lot of cases by white cis gender heterosexual people and It’s time that they really start to truly respect and appreciate and see the importance of diversity in the Casting room ! that doesn’t mean diverse cattle calls to auditions of “typical trans stereotypes “ it actually means truly investing in what it means to have someone genuinely in the footsteps of the storyline Brought into the room and given what they deserve when they deserve it and a fair equal battle ground for the right person for the right role
