Danielle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.

What I do is a bit different than most photographers. When it comes to a young family a budget is always a priority, many parents choose to go the digital route and say they will print and hang artwork themselves but with the busy times of having a young family it often gets placed on the back burner. So, when I get littles in the studio, I get very excited. One of my favorite sessions from last year was an 18-month-old with Mom. She ended up choosing 3 pieces of artwork and we hung it up in her front room. The expression on her little girl’s face was priceless and I know Mom will absolutely love it for years to come! We also discussed that over time these pieces can easily be moved in other areas of the house to display as she grows up. Allowing to tell a story over time through her home.

Danielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Hi, my name is Danielle Yurik and I’m the Owner and Photographer at BTC Yurik Photography. I’m a bit different than most photographers as I specialize in creating artwork of your loved ones to display in your home. I was once told “You must have so many good pictures of your kids!” and I was guilty of realizing they were all in my phone or on my computer so after taking pictures for almost a decade I pivoted. The next time we took family pictures I created three large prints on a float frame and placed it on a feature wall in my dining room. The reaction I got out of my kids was wide eyed pride. Their demeanor in taking pictures changed completely and now plan our sessions and their individual sessions. So, the rest was history and business changed. We now start with a free consultation in your home to discuss your thoughts needs and wants, while taking a look at your decor and wall space to plan and create your session. At your session whether it be outdoors, on location, or in the studio we know exactly what we need and make it a fun and enjoyable event. A few weeks later we sit down together and enjoy a beautiful presentation of your images as well as view images of your walls with accurate scaled artwork of your images. There is no guessing what size works best. My clients now get to walk around their home and enjoy seeing their story of love and growth rather than searching their phones or computers to look back in time.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Showing up and being active in my Community, my local Chamber of Commerce and my local Professional Photographers of America. When I first started out I often got the “I didn’t know you’re a photographer!” Now I get introduced to others as “This is Danielle and she’s a photographer.” It’s hard to know what everyone does but being active in your community, showing up, networking, and even wearing simple shirts that share what you do allow you to be top of mind when someone needs what you offer.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

Coaching programs! Do your research, but getting into a good group of likeminded entrepreneurs that do what you do can really make your business grow. Learning how to take pictures, edit and create artwork is one thing but running a profitable business, trying to figure out what’s next and getting support to keep you going is a whole other world.
