We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Vega . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.
Hi Danielle , thanks for joining us today. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
To prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career, I would advocate for a more practical, hands-on approach in education. This includes incorporating specialized skills and techniques, such as dry manicuring with modified Russian manicure techniques, directly into the curriculum. Providing students with actual tools and training that align with industry standards ensures they are equipped to succeed immediately after graduation. Additionally, fostering an environment that emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and continuous learning will help students adapt to the evolving demands of their chosen fields.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always been passionate about nails, but when I became a mom, I had to make a few sacrifices to support my family on a single income. I started couponing to save money and managed to get a few free polishes, which led me to do my own nails. Friends soon began asking me to do their nails, and that’s how my career began.
I went to school and graduated in 2016, moved into a private studio six months later, and opened my brick-and-mortar location in 2018. However, in 2020, life took a different direction. I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer, and the pandemic brought overwhelming challenges. The best decision for my family was to move to a new state.
Applying the lessons I had learned over the years, I embarked on a new journey. Within three months of opening my books in a new city and state where I knew no one, I was fully booked.
Being able to step back and pivot through challenging times has always been a strength of mine in the business environment. Despite the ups and downs, I turned a small idea into something amazing. My only regret is not starting sooner.

Have you ever had to pivot?
In 2020 California did a full shut down that lasted MONTHS! As a business owner of a Brick & Mortar I had think outside the box on ways to financially support my personal and business.
I had just started selling merchandise in our store front, so I did a huge flash sale on tanks, tees, sweaters, bags & hats. It was such a huge success and it allowed me to keep up with my financial responsibilities.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’ve faced many challenges as a business owner. In December 2017 my community faced one of the largest wild fires California, only 2 months since opening my brick & mortar, and we survived!
Offering exclusively booth rental options to other inspiring nail babes allowed space for some individuals to take advantage. Pack up and move in the middle of the night while stealing not only my furniture, but product as well. We survived.
The pandemic of 2020 didn’t break us, we maneuvered through the challengers and We Survived.
Leaving everything I knew in life behind and starting over in the great state of Arizona and almost 4yrs later I am here doing this interview.
Resilience is my middle name.
