We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Montreuil. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.
Alright, Danielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I named MM Culture Group in honor of my late mother, Marie Montreuil, whose warmth, Haitian roots, and vibrant spirit shaped everything I do today. Growing up, our home was alive with holiday celebrations and gatherings that she hosted with a nurturing grace and a talent for connecting people, hosting up to 60 guests with incredible food and an open heart. Although I’m an introvert at heart, it’s this spirit of connection that drives me to bring people together in meaningful ways—introducing future friends, partners, or spouses in settings that inspire and uplift. My mother was a nurse, lighting up every room with her high-energy presence and unwavering kindness, and this business truly feels like a continuation of her legacy. After many ventures, I know this one aligns with my purpose, as it came to me in a dream over a decade ago, carrying the values I wanted to embody. MM Culture Group attracts team members and clients who believe in quality, integrity, and the same vision, and I feel it’s where I’m meant to be.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Danielle Montreuil, founder of MM Culture Group, a fine dining social club and agency dedicated to hosting elevated, intimate events that bring people together in meaningful ways. Growing up in a Haitian household, I was immersed in a culture of celebration and hospitality, learning from my mother, Marie Montreuil, whose outgoing spirit and warm, nurturing qualities are deeply embedded in everything I do today. My mother, who was a nurse, effortlessly brought people together, made them feel special, and lit up every room with her vibrant energy. Although I’m naturally introverted, I found my calling in the art of connecting like-minded individuals. MM Culture Group was born from this legacy and my desire to create a space where people can build lasting relationships—whether it’s friendships, business partnerships, or even meeting their future spouse.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn was prioritizing my business at the expense of my own well-being. Years ago, I faced a difficult choice: meet payroll for my employees during the holidays or cover my own rent. Wanting to support my team and their families, I chose them and ended up depleting my savings, which eventually led to my eviction. Although I don’t regret putting my team first at the time, I learned a valuable lesson about balance. That experience taught me the importance of putting on my own mask first and led me to redefine my priorities as a business leader.
Since then, I’ve become a more discerning and prepared leader. I’ve learned to carefully assess clients, recognizing that not all money aligns with our values. Today, I approach business decisions with greater intention, outsourcing smarter, and ensuring I can sustain my vision without compromising my well-being. This experience made me a stronger, more balanced leader—one who can show up fully for my business and team without sacrificing personal stability.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Despite facing the hard consequences of my decision to prioritize my team over my personal needs, I didn’t let that setback define my path. After depleting my savings and experiencing eviction, I could have easily given up, but instead, I saw it as a call to evolve. I took the time to rebuild, carefully reassessing my values and approach to business. This journey pushed me to become more resourceful, calculated, and mindful of my own boundaries and needs. I invested in learning smarter ways to manage my resources and lead with balance, which has allowed me to build a stronger, more sustainable foundation for my business. This resilience, born from that difficult chapter, has made me a leader who can endure challenges and come out the other side more aligned, empowered, and equipped to uplift others—without compromising my own stability.
