We recently connected with Danielle LaSpisa and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Danielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
We handle the social media side of things ourselves. We made the choice we did because we feel that being millennials, we had the advantage of growing up around technology. Therefore, we have the knowledge of how to use it. We mostly operate through using editing apps. We currently use Canva and Splice for a majority of the time. They both have “free” options but we find paying the small fee is beneficial considering how much more we gain access to using. We try to post every day whether on facebook, tik tok, our stories or posting reels. Reels on instagram have been a game changer for us. Once we figured out how to connect them to trending sounds we were able to gain a lot more views and gain some new customers as well.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hi, my name is Danielle, and I am a licensed NJ Aesthetician of about 4 years. I am currently a business owner along with my two partners, Ailidh & Renee. We own a spa & beauty lounge called Solid 10 Esthetics. We offer facials, lash extensions, permanent make up, waxing & more. Starting a new business is definitely a challenge. The hardest thing to face is when you have a slow week. We had to learn to stay positive and keep moving forward. WE are extremely lucky to not be doing this alone so we can rely on each other for emotional support and advise to do better. I think one of the biggest things that sets us apart from the rest of the industry is that our main goal is to make you feel comfortable in your skin. We don’t care about making money (even though it is nice, haha), we just want you to feel like the best version of you.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Definitely social media. I can not stress making reels enough. They really help people see not only the amazing work that you do but your personality too. Since our treatments are about an hour long people want to be someone they can feel comfortable spending that time with. Another way we built our reputation was participating in local events. We often donate gift cards or baskets to our town’s events. Once the locals knew where we were they started suggesting us to their friends and families. We also are big on supporting our fellow small businesses.
