We were lucky to catch up with Danielle Krey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The most significant and rewarding risk I’ve ever taken was stepping out of the status quo to pursue my work as a professional Astrologer. As someone who has struggled with pervasive self-doubt, insecurity, and people-pleasing, taking a chance to follow the calling of my heart and trusting that I could do it was terrifying, especially because Astrology isn’t a broadly accepted or understood practice. I’ve had to face many of my fears on this path to pursue my passion, and it’s all been worth it because of who I’ve become through it all.
In my late 20s, I realized that the paradigm of working a 9-5 job for someone else wasn’t producing the kind of life I desired to live and knew was possible. I followed the traditional path of success that we’re taught by going to college, getting a good job, and settling into the day-to-day routines of trading my energy for a bi-weekly paycheck. Several years into this lifestyle, I grew tired of the mediocrity I felt in my days. My heart began to yearn more and more for deeper passion, purpose, and meaning in my life.
I began to question what success really meant to me, the significance of my own life, and the stories I had built my life around. If I had the choice to live a bigger, brighter, and bolder life, why wouldn’t I? This is the point where I really started to lean into my love of Astrology, which had been in my life to some degree for many years, and using cosmic dynamics as a tool to help me understand myself and this life with more clarity. I envisioned days when I would wake up to Astrology being my job, and that feeling of excitement is ultimately what led me to pursue my career as a Professional Astrologer.
I invested over $15,000 in business coaching and professional Astrology training, knowing it would be worth it. That was a huge financial risk. Through this entire journey, I’ve realized that success lives in the quality of your days, not in the quantity of bills in your bank account. I’m 31 years old, work for myself, and get to wake up every single day to do what I love with a sense of freedom, passion, and purpose. I’m in more service in this role than I would be in any other. Astrology sparked my spirit, and it’s the power of the heart that leads to a life fully lived. Following your heart is always worth the risk.

Danielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I serve spiritual seekers and soul searchers who want more for and from their lives by providing Astrological guidance to develop greater self-understanding, clarity, and life direction. My mission and vision are to ignite my clients into attracting, creating, and living more authentic lives full of passion, purpose, and joy. I want us all to follow the sparks in our spirits because that is what will lead us to live the life of our dreams.
I got into this work because I struggled so much with being myself. For many years of my life, I traded my own happiness for the happiness of others until I realized that I wasn’t really serving anyone by doing that. Astrology was a pivotal tool in my journey to developing more self-awareness around the life I was creating and choosing to do it more consciously and in accordance with my heart. Just imagine the kind of world we would live in if everyone loved the life they were living. It’s a choice we all get to make for ourselves. We choose where our energy goes, and where we put our energy is what we create in our lives. I want to see more creation from a place of passion and joy.
I have a background in Forensic Psychology and additional training in Astrology, quantum physics, and energy work. I take a multifaceted approach to my work and services, which includes spiritual exploration and development, mindset training, and heart activation.
My services include free monthly full moon circles and workshops, 20-minute recordings for quick guidance and insight, and private sessions for deeper work.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that service means being selfless. A direct translation of selfless is “no self.” This was the core root of many of my dysfunctional behaviors, such as people-pleasing. It was always the reason I never put much thought into the quality of my own life. As someone who always desired to be helpful and of service to others, I thought that the best way to do that was always to put myself last and to be selfless.
Under this paradigm, I didn’t matter to myself. The quality of my life didn’t matter. All that mattered was the other person and their experience of me. I experienced the dark side of humility, and that was self-depreciation to the point where I didn’t believe I was worthy of a life full of joy and passion. I developed social anxiety in my early 20’s. I woke up every morning feeling instant stress and dread around my day. Many things I was pursuing in my life at this time weren’t really true to my heart but rather products of what I thought others wanted of me. I was putting on a show. I wasn’t being authentic because I didn’t matter to myself.
My life journey has taught me that, paradoxically, selfishness can actually be the path of service. You have to care about yourself to create and live a life you love. Putting yourself last and others first to the point where you’re miserable is actually a disservice to everyone. If you really want to help the world, love your life.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Open-heartedness and vulnerability are vital in my work and values I pursue daily. I teach others how to live with their hearts on their sleeves because the vibrational power of our hearts attracts and creates a life we love.
This approach to life naturally requires us to face our fears. This work is about cultivating a truer version of yourself, which means removing the facades and masks we typically wear. It’s about shining your light brighter and letting others see you for who you really are, even when we are afraid we won’t be accepted for our differences.
If I weren’t an example of this kind of living, I wouldn’t be able to help anyone on their path to being more heart-centered. The more I’ve embraced my individuality and uniqueness, the more I desire to see others for theirs.
