Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danielle Jordt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Danielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
When I think of the word successful and what it means, several thoughts come to mind. Every decision you make, both personal and professional, will have an impact on what you and society define as successful. I think it’s important to set goals for yourself and continue everyday to work towards your version of success. Understanding that success looks different for everyone is important and allowing yourself grace while you are on your journey is essential to achieving success. Everyday you wake up, have grit, be a good person, do the right thing and work hard.
Danielle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I founded Systems for Success in beautiful Minnetonka, Minnesota. Systems for Success provides customized cleaning and concierge to busy families. Being a mom of 6 children and having a husband that traveled for work, I did not have a lot of time to wrap up laundry, dishes, take our dog on a walk and the list went on. Cleaning our house was always the last thing on my mind after a long day. I was tired and exhausted. I knew there had to be a better way, so I paved the way. I created Systems for Success to help busy families stay above water and have more time for things that mattered. Systems for Success helps with all things home and family related. Dishes, to do lists, making and prepping meals, pet care, laundry, cleaning, gift shopping and much more! What makes Systems for Success different, is our commitment to your family. Each concierge/cleaner is personally matched to the family they serve and they become a part of their family in a sense. The incredible women on my team are from the local communities in which they serve. Each team member is carefully selected and embraces the Systems for Success culture and values.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
When I first started Systems for Success it was just me. I really felt that before I hired my first employee I needed to learn the business so that I could know how to best support my future team. I needed to know first hand what products were going to work in clients’ homes, how many hours a day felt like too much, how long each task took, how people were responding to my rate etc. When I decided to hire my first employee, I felt prepared to answer questions she may have about the cleaning processes, products, clients and workload. My first employee is still my employee today and I am so thankful for the grace she has given me through my journey of running Systems for Success. We both know she has been sent to the wrong house on the wrong day a time or two, haha! Having strong and genuinely good people on your team is one of the biggest blessings you can have. Building a strong team takes time and is worth it!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Finding quality clients is essential to the health of your business. Being selective with your clients is crucial to avoiding headaches down the line. When I first started Systems for Success, I would take on any client who needed cleaning. I burned myself out dealing with clients who didn’t see the value in my company. They were ultimately taking my time away from clients who would see the value and would appreciate everything we offer. I believe the best source for new clients will always be a referral from a loyal client. Always value your current clients. You wouldn’t be where you are without each and every one of them. I do post on local neighborhood forums about what my company does and we also pay for advertising in a local magazine. I think when starting out, posting regularly on social media and local groups in your community will help you to find people interested in what you are doing. Never waiver on your worth. There will always be someone who thinks you are too expensive. Stay true to your values and the quality of service you provide and you will find your people.
