We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Danielle Hunt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I would definitely have started my creative career sooner. I started in the creative space about six years ago, and I honestly should have started 12 years ago. I have always wanted to be a content creator but I guess I didn’t realize that what I wanted to be when I grew up was actually a content creator until now. I wanted to be a writer and editor and I am doing all of those things in the non traditional setting. Not to mention I’m writing and creating what I want, when I want on my favorite topics.

Danielle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the owner and editor of The Sports Brat, a women’s guide to all things sports a gameday. It is also a lifestyle website that incorporates sports travel, fashion and fitness. I love sports and the events that surrounds sports whether it’s tailgating, homegating, etc.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part is when I receive a message on the website or in my DMs that something I told my audience about helped them, or they share their experiences on a location that I previously shared. The community that comes with my platform is so rewarding. When I share my every day struggles and my audience offers their own advice or encourages me in whatever way, that’s the best part. At the end of the day, The Sports Brat is one big happy family.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to pivot The Sports Brat’s focus with the pandemic. When everything shut down in 2020, so did sports. I was immediately faced with, “what would The Sports Brat be if there weren’t any professional sports to watch or attend?”. I had to rethink many things. I started a podcast – one of the many that came out of the pandemic and I relearned my audience. I even took that opportunity to press pause and rebrand The Sports Brat from its original look.
