We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Hundt – La Flam. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.
Danielle, appreciate you joining us today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
It’s because of covid that I started this business. A lot of people became comfortable being at home all of the time which had its obvious effects on physical/mental health, eating/drinking habits, social lives, relationships, income, small businesses, etc. Introverts perhaps enjoyed this time at home more, but I knew a few extroverts that were being very challenged – including me. Local businesses were struggling and closing, and I was over it. So I found a way to support single people and local small businesses, and how to have fun doing it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
After the covid years, I realized that most of us had succumbed to the habit of staying home. For many in the single life, that’s tantamount to quitting the search for love. I wanted to change that. So I decided to create local singles events so that single people could “get back out there” in a productive and successful way without sitting in a bar all night – or standing in the fruit section of the grocery store looking like a creeper. I created events for singles that also support local businesses. We meet for appetizers and drinks, coffee, tacos, or we go on hikes. We make new friends, we get social, we help each other, and mostly, we have fun together.
I added a healing component to some of the events that include guest speakers to briefly tackle subjects like Intimacy or mental health. It’s become a big collaboration and everyone wins. We’ve actually built a community. We’ve all made a lot of new friends.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I have select, accomplished close friends who have work that is similar in nature to my work; their work supports my work and mine, theirs. We collaborate and our energy lines up. We keep it win-win. For example, my emcee has just written his second book on Seven Secrets of Modern Dating – he’s a perfect fit to our Singles events. And people have found love…including me.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The secret is just doing the work. Just step out there, take a deep breath, and do your best-smile- and take the step. I stay as positive as I can, I support others however and whenever I can. I saw a void in the market, and I went for it. But it takes that drive, that decision, and that follow up. I have the best job in the world. I don’t even want to call it a “job”. People have rallied behind me and Parker Social, but I did have to take all those first steps on my own.
