We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Hearn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.
Alright, Danielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Why MAUD?
MAUD felt like the perfect fit—a name that embodies strength, elegance, and meaning. While inspired by my great-grandmother’s name, Maude, it’s less of a tribute and more of a reflection of what I want this brand to represent. The name means blessed and powerful house, which speaks to the foundation I’m building—a brand designed to create unforgettable wedding experiences that feel both elevated and intentional. Pronounced “MOD,” MAUD is where fine art meets fashion, giving couples a wedding day that’s as striking as it is meaningful.

Danielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Danielle, the designer and creative force behind MAUD Weddings. My journey into the world of design started long before MAUD was born—I’ve spent over 17 years working as a designer for iconic brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Express, Justice and Bath & Body Works. That experience not only sharpened my eye for style but also taught me the power of storytelling through visual design. Blending my background in fashion and event design, MAUD was created to bring elevated, artistic experiences to weddings—where every detail feels intentional, stylish, and deeply personal.
I specialize in styling and floral design with a fine arts meets fashion approach, ensuring couples get a cohesive vision that’s thoughtfully curated and executed. From mood boards that capture a feeling to dramatic tablescapes that leave guests speechless, I design weddings that feel like walking into a beautifully crafted editorial—polished yet deeply meaningful.
I’m also the co-founder of Weddingscapes, an app designed to help couples streamline their wedding planning with curated mood board templates that give a strong visual starting point. It’s all about saving time while sparking creativity—because great design shouldn’t feel overwhelming.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge creativity with practicality. I believe a wedding should be as functional as it is beautiful, and I use my expertise to design spaces that feel effortless yet unforgettable. Being both a stylist and a florist allows me to see the bigger picture and ensure no detail feels out of place. It’s about creating moments that couples—and their guests—will remember for years to come.
One of my proudest moments was having my work featured in Chicago Style Weddings, alongside other publications like Columbus Monthly, TSG, and Capital Style Magazine. Seeing my designs celebrated in those spaces reminded me that my work isn’t just about flowers or tablescapes—it’s about crafting experiences that tell a couple’s unique love story.
But beyond the designs and accolades, what I’m most passionate about is connection. I love working with couples who want their wedding to feel like them—not just trendy or expected, but meaningful, intentional, and reflective of their journey. When I’m not designing, I’m likely spending time with my husband (my high school sweetheart!) and our two amazing kids, finding inspiration in everyday moments and dreaming up new ways to bring beauty to life.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Building MAUD Weddings has been a journey filled with passion, persistence, and plenty of late nights. By day, I work as a full-time package designer in the corporate world, creating for a major brand, and by night (and sometimes into the early morning), I pour myself into building MAUD. It’s not uncommon for me to wrap up a long workday, then dive right into designing floral concepts, building connections with vendors, or crafting mood boards for my clients.
One story that stands out is from a styled shoot I hosted after a particularly demanding season at work. I’d been pushing through tight deadlines, long hours, and the mental exhaustion that comes with balancing both careers. But instead of slowing down, I felt this creative fire — I knew I wanted to design something fresh and impactful. I spent my evenings sketching concepts, gathering materials, and coordinating with vendors. On the day of the shoot, I woke up at 4 AM to finalize details, loaded my car with flowers and décor, and spent the entire day styling the space. Despite being physically drained, I felt energized — because I was creating something that mattered. That shoot went on to be published, and it became a defining moment in my journey — proof that even when I’m tired, my passion keeps pushing me forward.
What keeps me going is knowing that I’m building something meaningful — a brand that inspires and empowers couples to celebrate their love through thoughtful design. MAUD isn’t just about florals and styling; it’s about curating experiences that feel deeply personal. That passion fuels me, even when the hours are long and the workload is heavy.
For anyone balancing a full-time job while chasing their dreams — I get it. I know what it’s like to show up tired but still give your all because you believe in what you’re building. MAUD is the product of that grit, that belief, and that unwavering commitment to creating beauty — no matter what it takes.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being a creative is the connection it brings — the ability to take someone’s vision, emotions, and memories, and translate them into something tangible and unforgettable. As a designer and stylist, I get to create moments that tell a story — one that feels deeply personal to each couple or client I work with. Whether it’s curating a floral installation that feels like stepping into a dream or designing a tablescape that invites guests to linger a little longer, those details are what turn a celebration into an experience.
There’s nothing quite like seeing a client walk into a space I’ve designed and watching their face light up because it feels just right — like I’ve captured exactly what they had in their heart but couldn’t put into words. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that the designs I create become a part of someone’s memories — the backdrop for their most meaningful moments. That’s what drives me — creating beauty that feels personal, intentional, and unforgettable.
