We were lucky to catch up with Danielle Harper recently and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Well, when I got married I decided to completely leave the business to have kids. I took 5years off completely stepped out of the entertainment industry lost all contacts everything. About a year and half ago I took a. Huge risk coming back into the industry without any help or real knowledge of what had happened for 5 years. It was a huge risk. But it has been a wild ride since. I may still hold a full time job to keep financial stability for my family but the work is coming and my career is building again. It has been something.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been lucky enough to have been in the entertainment business in some way shape or form for most of my life. I started off as a classical ballet dancer, eventually adding contemporary to the mix, as well as musical theatre, and theatre. I have always loved the stage and someday I will return to it but for now my place is on a screen both big and small. I transitioned into the screen acting world as an actress who did stunts. I love stunt work but I love acting more brining a character life that then helps tell a story that moves you into feeling something. I took 5 years off to have kids and have since returned and had to find a new industry and new characters for me to play. I am still an actress who does many of her own stunts but I am also an actresses who has lived life and then some. I pull from my life experiences more than ever and it has helped me become the actress I am today. I have also added screenwriting and producing into the mix. I now co own a small production company called 3 Chicks Flicks we focus on building a voice for women in the film and tv industry. We create internship opportunities for the next generation of filmmaker to help build their resume and give them hands on experiences. I am so proud of the things we have accomplished since beginning this little company. I can wait to see what is in store next for 3 Chicks Flicks as well as my career as an actresses as well as a screenwriter.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to help bridge the gap in the industry for women both in front of and behind the camera, above the line and below the line.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me there are two parts to this question. 1. Is a big answer: The most rewarding is when I am a part of a film that people keep talking about in a good way.. they are talking about it because it made them feel something.. Stories should be an escape into the world created on the screen or the page , if it is done right is should make them feel something.. that is rewarding to me when a film makes someone cry, or laugh, or yell or scream to means it connected to them somehow and I love that.
2: for me it is rewarding when I wrap a character of set and it is always a bit sad to see the character go but then a few months later when you see the finished product you get to see the character on the screen in front of you and see your work first hand that is rewarding.
