We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Danielle Gerber a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
I always bring my laptop with me, just in case. Knowing that if something happens—if my team needs me, if there’s a crash on the website—I have control, gives me peace of mind. Most of the time, I never even open it, but knowing that I can respond quickly if something urgent comes up allows me to relax.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Danielle Gerber, a fine jewelry designer and entrepreneur, originally from California and now based in Israel. My journey into jewelry design began unexpectedly in 2015, during a trip through Delhi, India. What was meant to be a short visit turned into a three-year adventure across multiple continents, with immersive stays in India, Latin America, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Hawaii. These travels deeply influenced my design aesthetic, exposing me to diverse cultures and rich artistic traditions.
When I returned, I began fully pursuing my passion for jewelry design and launched DanielleGerber.com. Inspired by the cosmos, my designs often incorporate organic textures, skillfully integrating gemstones and diamonds to evoke a celestial allure.
In 2023, I opened my flagship boutique in the heart of Tel Aviv. My growing international clientele has since led me to expand distribution further into the American market.
My work has been featured in esteemed publications, including *Forbes*, *JCK*, and *Harper’s Bazaar*, further establishing my place in the jewelry industry. My journey from global wanderer to designer is reflected in each piece I create, blending cultural influences with artistic innovation.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Always look for a personal connection. In small or starting businesses, working with employees is very close and intense—the team is small, and you spend hours together. It’s important to find ways to show appreciation, or sometimes, if you notice something is going on with an employee, take the time to make them a coffee and offer a piece of cake, and ask how they’re doing, how you can help. When an employee sees that you care about them, they’ll give you their heart in return.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
I worked in sales for two years and made a lot of money. I’m very good at sales, and it helped me a lot later on with my own business. I didn’t buy expensive clothes or bags—I lived well but relatively modestly, saving up until I had enough to start working with my own funds.
