We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Fleming. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.
Hi Danielle , thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
My husband and I both run the business along with our amazing employees.
Most days, yes — I really am. Owning our own business has pushed us, challenged us, and made us grow in ways I never expected. It’s not always easy, and it’s definitely not always glamorous, but there’s something deeply satisfying about knowing the work I do directly impacts my customers and my community.
Do I ever think about going back to a “real job”?
Of course. Especially on the hard days — the long nights, the stress, the constant problem-solving that never really shuts off. Sometimes the idea of clocking in, doing your part, and clocking out sounds kind of nice. But then I remember why I started: the freedom, the ownership, the pride I feel when we solve a tough issue, take care of a customer, or grow the business another step forward.
So while it can be overwhelming at times, I’m happiest knowing were building something that’s ours. That purpose — and the ability to do things the right way for the people we serve — makes it all worth it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We’re a small, family-owned septic company born and raised right here in Otero County. When we bought this business, it was just a fraction of what it is now. Over the years, we’ve grown in leaps and bounds — not just in size, but in the services we offer, the team we’ve built, and the trust we’ve earned from the community.
At Precision Septic, we handle septic installs, pumping, grease trap cleaning, and dirt work. But more than that, we pride ourselves on doing the job right and treating every customer like a neighbor — because most of the time, you are.
Customer service and quality work are at the heart of everything we do. Our team is small, but mighty — and we couldn’t do this without them. They are truly the backbone of the company, and we’re proud of the hard, honest work they put in every day.
We want people to know: we’re here for you. Whether you’ve got a simple question, a big emergency, or need help figuring out what to do next, we’ll always do our best to get you answers or point you in the right direction. Because to us, good service means showing up, being honest, and doing whatever it takes to help people — plain and simple.

How’d you meet your business partner?
My husband and I have been together for 15 years. We met as teenagers — I was 15 and he was barely 17 — through a mutual friend, and we’ve been by each other’s side ever since. We’ve grown up together, built a life, a family, and now a business — through all the ups and downs, the good seasons and the tough ones.
Running a business together isn’t always easy, and neither is raising 4 kids, but somehow we manage to juggle both — one day at a time. Some days feel chaotic, like we’re just trying to keep up, but we’ve learned to lean on each other and keep our priorities in check. At the end of the day, I couldn’t do any of this without him. He’s not just my partner in business — he’s my teammate in life.
Together, we try our best to raise good kids with strong values, even when work is stressful and life feels a little crazy. It’s not always perfect, but it’s real — and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Honestly, word of mouth has been the biggest. There’s no better compliment than someone being so happy with our work that they tell their friends, family, or neighbors about us. That kind of trust means everything, and it’s helped our business grow year after year.
We also get a lot of new clients through Google and Facebook reviews. People want to know they’re hiring someone reliable, and those honest reviews give them confidence that we’ll show up, do the job right, and treat them with respect. It’s all about building trust — one job at a time.
