Danielle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
From the beginning of my career, one heartwarming story that brings a smile to my face is one of my first Fertility patients. I just started my Fertility and Pregnancy support program and she was the first patient I helped with Acupuncture support for before and after IVF. The transfer was successful and she reached out to continue using Chinese Medicine to help support the pregnancy. Throughout the journey, we were able to hold the pregnancy because of recent past history of miscarriage and worked through the side effects of Birth Trauma. She invited me to walk alongside her throughout the entire pregnancy and postpartum in the 4th trimester (the first 3 months after giving birth). At times, I was able to treat both her spouse, herself, while their toddler played at the clinic. This experience taught me so much and truly helped me connect to the soul of this work-by helping women feel empowered, feel safe to be themselves, and support them in their dreams. This patient invited me into the most vulnerable stage of her life and to witness her transition into the next stage of motherhood, while simultaneously healing herself; is awe inspiring.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
It has been a journey to come full circle into practicing Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture. I started out seeking training in Holistic Psychology; then, transitioned into Naturopathic Medicine. In College, I took an “Alternative Health” course, where I learned about Acupuncture, Yoga, and Reiki. When I learned about these topics, I felt an instant pull to know more. I decided to train in Biology and Pre-Med, so I can become a Naturopathic Doctor. The intention was to become a Naturopathic Doctor alongside a Licensed Acupuncturist, who specialized in Midwifery and Women’s Health. Life took a turn and my health declined in medical school from the compounded stress and I needed answers. I decided to take a year off of the Naturopathic Program and pursue training at the Acupuncture school in Phoenix, part-time. There, I was able to reset, commit to the Chinese Medicine of receiving Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, and Nutritional guidance. I began to heal and my passion rekindled for natural medicine and Women’s Health. My Celiac disease was management, my stress was greatly reduced (even still in a medial program), and I became pregnant with my first child. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine saved my life, improved my quality of life experience, and enabled me to have my first child.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My resilience has been one of my foundational traits throughout my life journey. I remember balancing many life events during a pivotal time in my life. During the cusp of 2016 and 2017, I managed to balance graduating from my Master’s Degree program in Acupuncture, getting married, passing my last board exam to complete the application for my state Acupuncture license, receiving my License, and starting to work in my career as an Acupuncturist all within few months of each other. At the same time, I was raising my two-year-old and doing some deep healing from past trauma and recent grief. I am in awe of the human body and spirit during times of adversity. And I am thankful for the experience and the ability of my resilience to navigate through all of those transitions.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The current lesson I am unlearning is life does not have to be chaotic. Life can be calm, while building towards my dreams and aspirations. As an entrepreneur, I am learning to balance the influx of creative flow, new ideas, maintaining the foundation of business operations, and staying grounded. I grew up in a dysfunctional family unit, where chaos was the norm. In order to adapt to that environment, I developed the ability to become a chameleon, type A, and highly ambitious personality. While those habits helped propel my life towards my goals and aspirations, it comes at the cost of burning out. I have had burn out several times over the past 10 years and I noticed a shift in my priorities. I am unlearning of letting go always “doing” and moving to becoming intention with “being”. The priority is filling my cup within my personal and business life, so I can be of services to others in a well-rounded and inspiring way.
