We were lucky to catch up with Danielle Detiege recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Danielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to help women entrepreneurs and professionals discover and live out their personal success stories so that they can find fulfillment and joy. The story behind my mission is that I was engrossed in grind culture and the superwoman trope for most of my adult life. Every moment was filled with action and activity and I was constantly trying to be a superwife, supermom, employee, caregiver, etc. After my grandmother, who raised me, got sick and went into hospice care, I completely shut down and the weight of it all came down on me. I went from doing it all to barely being able to get out of bed. Once my grandmother passed away, I found myself in a dark place trying to figure out how to get out. When I finally regrouped, I realized the life I had been living was not sustainable and was unhealthy. I decided that I was going to rebuild my life in a way that prioritized joy. This eventually led to me becoming a Work with Ease Coach helping women to find what truly makes them happy and being their success around those things. We all deserve joy and to be a priority in our own lives.
Danielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Danielle Detiege also known as Coach Danni D. I am a business owner of a luxury Balloon Decor Company NOLA Party Boutique. I am also a Work with Ease Coach helping women business owners and professionals to align their lives with their personal success stories. I help my clients set up systems to make their businesses run smoother. I also help them with mindset and self-work so they can get out of their own way and confidently step into their success!
I entered the coaching field because I saw the need as I grew my balloon business. I would meet so many creatives who struggled with business. People began reaching out for my advice and insight on structuring and growing their businesses and I realized that I had a gift for helping people to understand business concepts.
I offer both individual and group coaching programs to my clients including my OWN Your Business Academy, Calendar Detox, and Capable & Confident program ditching impostor syndrome.
I am proud of the transformations that my clients have had. My clients have gone from feeling confused and unfocused to owning the title of Business Owner. This is especially important for those in creative fields who often feel more like hobbyists than business owners. That confidence that comes with having a solid business foundation and an owner’s mindset is invaluable.
My goal is to make sure my clients see themselves in all of the greatness so they can fulfill their purpose in the world all while having ease and joy!
I am also the host of the Profits in Pajamas podcast where I share my tips and views about working with ease. The goal is to help women to leave grind culture.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
My balloon business started as a side hustle and accidentally. I always loved planning parties and doing new things. When my son was born, I had the opportunity to display my creativity. Parents at his parties started placing orders at his parties. I started the business due to the demand. It was still a side hustle to my full-time job.
When I was ready to leave my full-time job, I started interviewing with other companies and got through several interviews but was not hired. I was becoming discouraged and I had a God moment. I realized that my next move was not another job but to pursue my business seriously. I attended the World Balloon Convention that was in my hometown that year. I went to all the business classes and spoke with many of the successful people in the industry. From there I created an exit plan that included marketing to build my clientele and improving my systems so that I could work more efficiently. I also niched down to focus on corporate accounts. My business grew over the 2 years of my exit plan and when I quit my full-time job, I was able to replace that income.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation was built on being genuine, authentic, and down to earth. I was very vocal in my industry prior to becoming a coach allowing my peers to see me in action. I always seek to help my clients believe that they can do it. I see a lot of coaches that focus on what clients are not doing or saying that they are not committed enough. I know that fear, self-doubt, and lack of confidence are often the root of why we don’t act when we should. I show my clients that they are capable of greatness but that it is also ok to be human. Through my podcast, I share my human moments so that my listeners can see that their thoughts and setbacks are normal.
