We were lucky to catch up with Danielle Desroche recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Danielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
My medical residency came to an end shortly before the pandemic, and because of the state of the world I was forced to really consider how I wanted to practice and what I wanted my life to look like. I began a virtual telehealth practice which allowed me to continue to connect with and support women during the lockdown. I realized very quickly many women do not have access to naturopathic medicine, and they were finding me through Instagram and TikTok in hopes someone would listen to their concerns and help them address their hormone and fertility struggles. I’ve continued to grow my practice virtually and now get to support women all over the world, all while maintaining flexibility in my own life. I encourage other young health care providers to consider a similar path. Although I never imagined myself practicing in this way when I was in medical school, I really feel my impact is far beyond what I could accomplish only seeing patients 1:1 in a clinic setting.

Danielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I first came across naturopathic medicine during my undergraduate studies. I had previously been a professional ballet dancer and struggled with an eating disorder during my career. In an attempt to heal my relationship with food I studied nutrition at the University of Vermont, and continued on to get my doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. As a naturopathic doctor we are trained in both conventional medicine, including pharmaceuticals an and natural therapies like nutrition, supplements, and physical medicine. I love this approach to health care because it focuses on addressing the root cause, and looks at the person as a whole, rather than a set of symptoms. I now own a virtual telehealth practice where I help women heal the root cause of their hormone issues so they can have regular periods, lose weight, and get pregnant naturally.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My approach to healing common health concerns among women including PCOS, painful periods, and PMS is far different from conventional medicine. Unlike traditional doctors who may offer a prescription medication and send the patient on their way, I take a more whole body approach and work to address the root cause of symptoms. I educate and empower my clients to take control of their health through diet and lifestyle changes. As women we often think feeling less than our best is normal but this simply isn’t true. With the right support we can feel energized and confident in our body regardless of our age.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The majority of my clients find me through social media and my podcast, Heal Your Hormones with Dr. Danielle. I try to share as much as my life as possible to provide some insight into small daily habits I do (and my audience can do as well) to improve their hormones and feel their best. As I’ve worked with my clients and provided them a different health care experience they have spread the word among their family and friends which has also helped to bring in new clients organically.
