We were lucky to catch up with Danielle Curtis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Danielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

My name is Danielle but people have called me Dani all of my life. Like many people, I had gotten to a point where I was more focused on carrying for others that I forgot about myself. A good friend said to me, “Dani, girl you need to start living!” And that’s how DaniGirl Living was born!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I started my blog as a means to vent and release. I have always loved to write so starting a blog was a no brainer. I then began to share my food and travel experiences and received amazing feedback. I was looking for the perfect mug to sip my tea from one day and just couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. So, I made one. I posted it on social media and got so many inquiries about it that I decided to creatively more and sell them. The mug sales turned into t-shirt requests. And that’s how the store section of my blog started.
I am super proud of DGL because it takes a lot to run a business while working an extremely tasking 9-5. My blog readers and customers have kept me going! They notice when I haven’t posted and reach out to check on me. They share words of encouragement as well as spread the word about my products. And for that, I am and will always be extremely grateful!

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.

I send email blasts at least three times a month. I also ask my customers to enter their birthdays when making purchases so that I can send birthday cards with a DGL coupon.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Few people know that I am legally blind. But I don’t let that stop me in business or in life. It does get a little difficult when making certain products but I have the determination to always provide excellent materials, whether it’s in writing or manufacturing. I make sure to provide the same experience that I desire from other businesses.
