We were lucky to catch up with Danielle Beinstein recently and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
In my early 30s, I was working at an EdTech Start up as an Online Community Manager. In that role, I would interface with users, but I also wrote all the copy and developed the program’s “voice.” It was an opportunity that showed up quite unexpectedly and it was the last job I had before I created my current offering. In that job, I worked for and with the COO who was really logical, very scientific in his approach. brained in his approach. And he said to me, “Danielle, wherever you go in life, whatever you do, you have a real gift in translating right brained concepts to left brained people {like me].” His reflection was a revelation but also the job itself brought me much more in touch with myself; I came to understand my skill sets far more thoroughly. They ended up cutting my role due to lack of financing. Being let go from that position was quite scary, but it forced me to go out on my own.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I work one on one and in groups, facilitating people through exploration and inquiry. While I do use Astrology and my Masters in Spiritual Psychology as a base, my work extends far beyond both. My intention is to hold an unconditional loving space, bring gentle accountability and listen beneath the words. With that, I am able to reflect my clients back to them and offer insight, guidance and intuition in bringing them deeper in touch with themselves. We live in a highly prescriptive and diagnostic world, but we actually just need a sacred and quiet space to be seen and heard. And holding that space is what I aim to do. I also have a Substack, which allows me to write and connect to others through my written words.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Success is determined by external metrics. I grew up in a highly achievement focused sector for New York City, during the 80s and 90s. My ideas about success were limited, predicated in ideas rather than lived experience. Now I see success as inner fulfillment and emotional maturity. Does my work feel meaningful? Do my relationships feel intimate and enriching? Am I growing in a myriad of ways? Am I feeling challenged?

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Being able to connect emotionally and intuitively with an audience and with clients, through speaking and writing. This is the single greatest factor in building my client base.
